JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:  Provides leadership for client-focused go-to-market strategies, new contract development and oversight of all business development personnel.



  • Identifies key market segments for future growth and development.
  • Participates in the development of short and long-range business planning.
  • Oversees all business development, marketing and telemarketing staffs within the organization.
  • Oversees budget preparation of Sales and Marketing areas within D&Y.
  • Create and implement key performance measures for direct reports designed to enhance awareness, support and accountability of job performance, professional growth, and contributions on organizational results.
  • Collaboratively establish and maintain group focus on attainment of sales metrics.
  • Provides senior management with detailed reporting on performance and return on investment programs and initiatives of Sales and Marketing areas.
  • Ensures new contracts meet established revenue standards.
  • Provides financial detail to Accounting/Finance for pricing/market share analysis.
  • Works with Mergers & Acquisitions areas as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field.
  • Master’s Degree (e.g. MBA or MHA) desired.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare
  • At least five (5) years of proven previous strategic Business Development/Sales/Marketing experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in an executive managerial leadership role in Business Development/Sales with marketing oversight.
  • Experience in staffing industry strongly desired.
  • Proven track record in regional and national sales management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to create positive relationships with all levels of personnel.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Must be energetic, visionary and results oriented.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and integrity based decision making.
  • Excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets; familiarity and use of social media and CRM applications.
  • Ability to travel as required for attendance at client site meetings, trade show conventions, industry meetings, etc.


  • Job is performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled modern office setting.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.

    Positive Outlook

    I have been working at D&Y (More than a year)


    Excellent benefits, challenging yet rewarding work environment. Growth initiative is in full swing. It is fun to see a company so determined to add quality employees in an effort to grow business. Many people in management started out at the bottom floor and have advanced in the company As mentioned, the benefits are exceptional (one of the perks of working for a healthcare company). I would put our health insurance up against any other company. Great office environment, everyone seems to get along and like each other. Our work is a team effort so this is important and makes it easy to want to come to work every day.


    Lots of turnover, this is not the right job for everyone. Recruiters work hard and tend to generally make good money, but it does take lots of effort and time to build a book of business. There are metric goals in place to allow for commission earnings in the first 18 months. They are very achievable but not necessarily easy to hit. Best advice - plan on making "base salary" for the first year, and consider any commission you make during that time to be extra. People who have been here 2-3+ years generally make very good money. Simply put, if you aren't hitting most of the goals they lay out in the first year, this probably isn't the place for you.

    Advice to Management

    Keep on growing and providing the necessary tools for success. Have done a good job in this in the past year.

    I applied online. I interviewed at D&Y (Huntsville, AL).


    Went for a one-on-one interview with an assistant HR person, was called back for another interview the next day. I had a long waiting time for both interviews and for the second, the person was in a meeting and I was put in a cubical with an employee to "see what they do" for over two hours just because the HR person was not available. They were overall disorganized and pretty rude when I finally did get to actually meet with the HR people.
    In the end I never heard from them again after spending hours on two different days at their office. And now, weeks, months later I see that they are STILL advertising all over the internet for the SAME JOB I interviewed for. Pffft. Don't waste your time, people.
