I have been working at DAK Americas full-time (More than 3 years)
Work life balance is great for salaried. Best health insurance around. Good 401K match of 4% with an additional 4% added. Company strives to be a safety benchmark. The people are very good and desire to be the best.
No clearly defined method of advancement. People are treated as replaceable and are not valued. Pay is lower than other peer companies. Training is not a priority.
Advice to Management
Senior management is not in touch with the ground floor. Get out and spend time with the people. Quit trying to point fingers and work towards solving problems, not laying blame. It is OK for people to fail at a task; it is how you recover from the failure and what you learn that makes you stronger.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DAK Americas (Columbia, SC) in October 2016.
One phone interview with HR manager for 30 min. One phone interview with Hiring Manager for 30 min. On-site interview (4 hrs) with Hiring manager, Operations Manager, and Maintenance Manager.
Most questions were behavioral based. Almost completely non-technical! I thought the employees and managers I met were OK but nothing special. I probably would have got bored with the job after a year since it has pretty simple processes (manufacture PTA and PET).
