Michael Owens personally visits every Orientation class to meet each new hire and share his vision for DB&A. DB&A  teamed up with Make-A-Wish at the end of 2013. In addition to donating funds to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, DB&A employees are donating unused airline miles which are essential to getting wish kids to their destinations. Employees who fly on Delta, United, and US Airways are effortlessly donating frequent flier miles, in just a few easy steps, by visiting the Make-A-Wish website.

By the end of 2014, DB&A employees donated 285,649 miles which exceeded our corporate goal of 250,000 miles. These donated miles never expire and are never used for anything other than wish travel.



After spending more than a decade working for a much larger consulting firm, Lou DeWolff and Tim Boberg founded DB&A in 1987. The inspiration for this new company was their joint
realization that clients did not receive all of the benefits they had been promised by consulting firms - yet they were still expected to pay the consultant's full fee.


This inequitable situation convinced both men that a different kind of consulting company was needed, one that was smaller, more results-oriented, and could guarantee specific, measurable improvements from its proposals. The new firm would be guided by two important principles:

  • Stand behind commitments to clients through a true guarantee
  • Ultimately achieve measurable results

This was a radical concept at the time, since few other consultancies provided written guarantees based on results; yet to Lou and Tim, it seemed like the natural way for a consulting firm to operate.

In the years since, DB&A has achieved phenomenal growth based on the ability to consistently deliver savings promised to clients. In fact, approximately 70 percent of our revenues have traditionally come from repeat or referral work from existing clients. Today, DB&A is an organization of more than 200 full-time professionals.

The Guarantee

The DB&A Guarantee is more than a financial promise - it is a mutual commitment to work toward a predetermined set of goals. Through this written contract, we guarantee specific performance improvements. As a client, you agree to follow our recommendations - and potentially make tough choices - in order to meet these benchmarks. Most of our clients are overwhelmed by the success of their projects, as we typically exceed our goals by 50 percent.

With both parties vested in the outcome and with our mutually attainable goals established, the long-term engagement begins. If we don't meet our goals by the end of our set timeline, we'll either keep working until we do or refund fees based on the proposed return on investment.


In addition to identifying specific skills or processes that need to be integrated or improved, we provide one-on-one leadership coaching at the management level. We also provide skill coaching at all levels in order to optimize communication and inspire accountability across departments and job titles. This environment of accountability fosters "ownership" of goals and job tasks, empowers employees to perform at the highest possible levels, and lays a strong foundation for ongoing improvement. DB&A's intense focus on implementation - rather than merely providing advice or guidance - allows our clients to experience truly sustainable improvements in performance.

    I have been working at DB&A full-time


    The best part of working here is being able to make a difference. Where else can you have direct access to the management of high profile clients and have the ability to positively influence their business? Your development, progression and compensation is largely in your control. The company is continuing to invest in its infrastructure, training and support to those in the field.


    The travel can get to you if you aren't fully committed. Make sure you have everything at home squared away. Its not a great fit for those who are content to sit on the sidelines.

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DB&A (Lancaster, PA) in September 2015.


    I was contacted by a recruiter through email. Shortly after we schedule a short phone interview to go over my background, a phone interview with a manger was set up within the following week. A in person interview was set up two weeks after the first phone interview with the same manager.
