    Positive Outlook

DES offers positions in the architectural and engineering industry that will allow individuals to build careers. All the disciplines under one roof expose you to how these projects really come together. Once you have orientated yourself to the project types and staffing procedures you can find a way to pursue your own path. With perseverance and patience the full potential of what DES has to offer will make itself clear. Loyalty is valued and reciprocated by ownership.

Not many cons. Inter-office politics exist in any corporate architectural environment but at DES they are a minor distraction compared to other practices of this size. Focus on the work and keep an eye on your long term goals. You will get there.

    Advice to Management

Continue instilling the core values of creativity, respect, hard work, continuous learning and positive attitude through example. Though I am no longer at DES I take these values with me wherever I go. Forever grateful.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DES Architects Engineers.

I applied for the Structural Engineer position they advertised on the firm's website. The interview consisted of a panel of the HR person and the head of the structural engineering department. i was asked about my previous experience. I felt I would be a fit for this firm because I have designed all building types.

During the interview, I was constantly being told the firm had to turn down work because they claimed they did not have the manpower to work on some of the projects. I felt this was a win-win situation for them.

In the end, the position did not even exist even though the firm stated this on their website. DES claimed they had to reassess their needs. This was a complete waste of time. I can only imagine how they treat their clients. They are Dumb Engineering Stupidists indeed!
