DLC – Why Work For Us?

Who We Are.

DLC is a professional services firm that helps companies transform ideas into action, one project at a time. Recognized by Inc magazine and the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the nation’s fastest growing companies, DLC has established itself as a leading provider of business services to companies seeking expertise in financial planning and analysis, accounting and financial reporting, M&A transaction support, financial systems implementation, process redesign, project management, and post merger integration.

Our People.

As an organization, we recognize that “people” are our firm’s greatest asset. With that understanding, DLC is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining the best and brightest finance and accounting talent across the country; all Big 4 CPAs and/or Top 25 MBAs with Fortune 1000 experience.

People.

DLC full-time professionals are CPAs with Big 4 experience and/or MBAs from top business schools, all with finance and accounting experience at Fortune 1000 companies. We attract top talent by creating an environment that recognizes and rewards their abilities and capacity to make meaningful contributions to the clients they serve. They have the technical training, desk-level expertise and people skills to work effectively within your organization.

Focus.

Matching the right people to a project can dramatically accelerate its successful completion. DLC analyzes our clients’ needs and distills them into required tasks and skill sets; we then deploy consultants whose training, skills and experience are best matched to the project.

Execution.

Our consultants don’t just hand you clever recommendations and walk away. We are in the business of getting your projects done.

Local Talent. Local Deployment.

DLC deploys resources locally within the firm’s markets, providing our consultants with the benefit of working on local projects. Our full-time consultants have the opportunity to work on challenging assignments that help build critical skills while gaining exposure to a variety of different industry verticals, accelerating their professional development. This unique employment model not only provides a significant benefit to our consultants, but it is also an added advantage for our clients. When travel is minimized, it maximizes time spent working on assignments.

What Is It Like To Be A Consultant?

As you might expect, your day-to-day responsibilities vary dramatically from client to client and project to project. Given the breadth of industries we serve, your exposure could range from Aerospace to Agriculture, from Pharmaceuticals to Financial Services, from Engineering to Entertainment or from Real Estate to Retail. Your projects will run the gamut as well. Today you might be running a due diligence engagement, tomorrow you might be reengineering a close cycle. This week you might be “going live” with an SAP implementation, next week you might be developing a strategic planning process. This month you might be integrating an acquisition, next month you might be interpreting an accounting pronouncement.

Where DLC Can Take You.

DLC Can Elevate Your Career To New Heights.
The consultant experience at DLC is specifically designed to accelerate our practitioners’ development. Many of our most well-rounded consultants entered our firm with narrow industry and functional experience and dramatically increased their transferable skills in a short period of time. While we would like our consultants to make DLC their last career move, we recognize that the skill and experience they amass while working for our firm makes them extremely attractive in the marketplace. Whether they work for a multinational corporation or a venture capital backed startup, our Alumni hold positions of prominence in the organizations they serve.

Building a Network and Lasting Relationships.
As a DLC consultant, you will gain instant access to a network of talented professionals as well as the collective intellectual capital of our firm. Your colleagues will routinely share their insight, knowledge, and perspective to assist you with technical issues, client management issues, and even your own professional development.

In an environment that fosters sharing and open and honest communication, it’s no surprise that many of our consultants forge lasting relationships that transcend the workplace.

I worked at DLC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of industries and build a huge network of contacts in a fairly short period of time. It was a huge boost to my career and I highly recommend putting in some time at DLC. I'm really grateful for the opportunities they provided. A professionally run and efficient company with talented management. .

    Cons

Depending on where you live, commutes can get rough.

As with any sort of consulting firm, the quality of the assignments vary.

Sometimes it is difficult to stay engaged when on the bench.

    Advice to Management

There is opportunity to build consulting teams with specializations, could be a growth area for the firm to build 'consulting teams'

    Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at DLC (New York, NY).

    Interview

The interview went rather smoothly. They see you as a cash cow so they make all the snap judgments on your resume. Keep in mind, it is what they can sale not who you really are so make sure you are telling them how much money your skills will make them and they will have a grin from ear to ear.
