DRB Systems – Why Work For Us?

History

DRB Systems & Unitec are business solutions companies that provide technology and marketing support to enhance the consumer’s experience and the operational efficiency of a car wash. Unlike equipment-only point-of-sale companies, we provide the business ”know-how” to transform most car washes into profitable, thriving businesses.

DRB Systems was founded in 1984 and is located outside of Akron, OH. DRB Systems proudly employs 200 experienced and tenured knowledge leaders. Anchored in the organization’s 33 year history of providing innovative, custom tunnel and POS solutions to the car wash industry, we continue to focus on how we can help create opportunities for car wash operators to grow and thrive in today’s ever-evolving industry.

Unitec was founded in 1983 by Jeff Ousborne an electrical engineer and Erik Eden a car wash distributor who joined forces to develop the first discrete code entry system for the car wash market Unitec has consistently produced the most advanced hardware and software available. As a customer-driven company, Unitec’s products and features were developed as a direct response to customer requests. Unitec products combine state-of-the-art technology, user-friendly operation - for customers and staff - and dependable, rugged construction.

Employee Spotlight

Joe Shoemaker

Company role: VP of Marketing

Tell us a bit about yourself: I am the proud father of two daughters in high school, one of which is a senior and will be attend THE Ohio State University in the fall.  Lucky husband to a wonderful wife of 22 years and devoted fan of the Steelers.  I have a BSBA from Youngstown State University and love working in marketing with my team.

How did you first learn about the company? Through the job recruitment process.  I was more impressed with the company after each conversation and person I met.

What is your favorite work memory? There are so many awesome memories, but my involvement with the 1950s sock hop Christmas party tops the list.

What is the best praise or advice you have ever received? All progress takes place outside the comfort zone.  You need to stretch in order to grow.

Are you a listener or a talker? An active listener.  Unless you ask my wife.

If you could live in a sitcom, which one would it be?  The Office.

What is the most interesting icebreaker question you have ever been asked?  You were just given a yacht.  What would you name it?

Community-based initiatives are significant to DRB and its employees.  Giving back improves our relationship with community members and results in a better place to live and work for all involved.  We are very engaged throughout the year in fun and meaningful ways to make our community better while enhancing the spirit of contribution for our employees.  Some of the activities we’ve engaged in include, but are not limited to:

  • Chili cookoffs
  • Penny wars
  • Participating in local parades
  • Our TECHS career development program
  • Volunteering initiatives

The awesome-ness of DRB is best described through pictures.  From a gaming center, to monthly pie day, free beverages, an open, welcoming commons area, and company events, these are just a few of the many examples of why DRB is one of the best places you will ever work!
