I worked at DST Output full-time (More than 3 years)
There are hours to be had for sure. Mandatory overtime working 12-hour shifts with some relatively decent people. Job Training is decent also.
It seemed like in order to advance, you would have to be liked pretty much by the management. Favoritism has its part in all jobs, but this one especially. Quarterly volume periods expect to work 6 or 7 days without any days off (on the bright side, a hefty check). Also, the experience seemed as though the hardest and best workers got pushed harder, while the lazy people got the promotion.
Advice to Management
Promote your best workers!
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at DST Output (Kansas City, MO) in December 2014.
Phone interview with HR. Then with Software Development Manager and three PMs. Low stress interview. No tricky questions. They are looking for long term employees that are excellent, and I mean excellent team players. They tell you they will be in contact if they want to offer you the job. If they don't call, you did not get the job.
