Congratulations to Jane Gregory who ousted our reigning champion Jon Hooker in the Annual Chili Cook-off! She now gets to proudly display the Cook-off Apron at her desk for the next year. Also congrats to Jon and Tiffany Lopez who came in 2nd and 3rd. A fun event with lots of good food!
DataServ is all about simple. We create simple solutions for automating the world’s B2B financial transactions. Founded in 1994, the company created the world’s first FinTech Software as a Service (SaaS) technology. DataServ helps businesses reduce cost and improve accuracy by automating manual processes and documents related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Human Resources. Why you should apply at DataServ:

At DataServ, we have purposefully created an environment that respects the individual – it’s a combination of all the elements that Kathi, our CFO and Partner, and I believe foster an environment we would like to work in personally. Kathi experienced a true partnership during her decade-long tenure at Deloitte, a company where anyone can advance to the Partner level based upon the merits of their own efforts, creativity and leadership ability.
The concepts I have implemented at DataServ were borne out of frustration I felt with always being the new kid and being told what would not work and that this is how “it’s always been” even though I always had new and better ideas. Therefore, we built DataServ to allow individuals to contribute to their highest potential and have more independence to influence the future of the company. Sometimes this can be confusing for our team members because it can seem like a lack of direction.
Our management style is intentionally less hierarchical – shared responsibility is a key to our growth and success. It’s a two-way street, though, as our team members must contribute and actively participate to allow this model to succeed, but when they enjoy doing this and take advantage of the opportunity to make a positive impact, there are numerous benefits for themselves, the company as a whole, and our clients.
In 2017, DataServ team members committed to training on Inspiring Trust. We incorporated the Stephen Covey Speed of Trust principle: high trust within our organization can impact the working environment in a positive way by improving speed and decreasing the cost of doing business.
Communication is a good example. When you say something to a trusted friend or co-worker, even if you are not clear, they understand what you mean and know where you are coming from because they know and trust you. Now imagine saying something that wasn’t clear to someone with whom you don’t yet share a trusting relationship. Speed and cost. It will take longer to clarify what you said or what you meant and this delay will cost time and money. I know you’ve experienced a similar situation…
As part of reinforcing our Trust training, we conducted weekly “trust huddles.” These huddles included team members from each department throughout the organization and usually not someone from the same team. Not only did we learn about new teams and team members, we were able to further our trust with them as well!
Would you like to work in an environment centered around trust? Would you like your manager or co-workers to listen first? Demonstrate respect? Practice accountability? That’s what we’re all about at DataServ. We hope one day you’ll be able to join our awesome team!
DataServ was founded to change the way software was delivered because we believe that clients deserve more value from software investments. Our goal was to guarantee success and to share in the responsibility for achieving that success with automation. Too many software vendors and their products fail to deliver on their promise. Most of these vendors treat clients as a hostage instead of a valuable, equal partner. DataServ was created to break that mold.
From our inception we created solutions that are 1) pragmatic, sustainable, and affordable for real-world process automation challenges, 2) delivered as a service - before there was a Cloud, and 3) tailored to the clients’ businesses. Our incredible, long term relationships with clients demonstrate one of our core tenets: evolution.
As professionals explore and compare SaaS FinTech solutions that automate Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Human Resources, they should expect more. Our SaaS platform was built from scratch – not bolted together from acquisitions – with input from tens of thousands of users over the past twenty-plus years.
We invented the SaaS+Services model to deliver results from the software. We wrote the “10 Year Rule” – setting our sites on keeping every client for at least 10 years – before we had our first client. Our results in this area have far surpassed our expectations – delivering a sustained client retention rate of nearly 100%.
It is the policy of DataServ to promote equal employment opportunity through a positive continuing program of specific practices designed to ensure no discrimination against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin or ancestry, age, disability, uniform service member or veteran status or any other protected class under federal, state or local law. All Managers and employees who are responsible for hiring and promoting employees and for the development and implementation of programs or activities are charged with supporting this Program. It is also the responsibility of every Manager and employee to cooperate in the enforcement of these policies.

Jeff Haller, CEO and Managing Partner
I worked at DataServ (Missouri) full-time (Less than a year)
The most noticeable attribute that sticks out to me about DataServ is that everyone cares! They care about each other, and they care about the direction of the company. It truly feels like a large family.
Just like anywhere, there can be stressful and demanding times when issues arise that affect customers, but those are the times that everyone comes together to correct those issues and get back up to speed. Those were the proudest moments for me. They also make up for demanding work with flexibility of work hours and some remote work opportunities.
The management team at DataServ is constantly looking ahead and has laid the groundwork to move their application to the latest technologies and design principles. I believe they are on the right track, and will grow significantly in the next few years.
I'd also like to thank DataServ for their support of my work and the invaluable experiences I attained.
I had a very positive experience working at DataServ, so I don't have anything negative to say. But, I should point out something so that I feel I have given a complete review:
I just wish I could better hear the standup meeting when calling in. ;)
Advice to Management
You're on the right path! Keep your focus on what's important and your progress will be positive.
I applied online. I interviewed at DataServ (Missouri) (Saint Louis, MO) in July 2017.
DataServ had excellent communication with me throughout the interviewing process and overall was very welcoming from initial contact to final offer. I found this to be refreshing from most companies who don't seem to respect candidate's time or want to nurture an authentic relationship from the start. The first step was to interview with HR on the phone and this was quickly followed by an in-person meeting with the CEO and HR. There was a 'top-grading' approach done by CEO and HR in the next round to discuss detail about my work at prior employers and my educational experiences. I liked how DataServ wanted to know about who I am in totality ... and not just the last employer. The final interview was a panel interview with the stakeholders in DataServ that I would be supporting. In addition, there were a number of online tests for me to complete to better assess my style, personality, intelligence and other traits. The timeline was less than one month from initial contact to offer.
