Datameer – Why Work For Us?

First, I’m incredibly excited to introduce myself as the new CEO of Datameer. I’ve been in the big data space for over 20 years and have had the opportunity to work with a number of exceptional executives throughout my career that have shown me what it takes to be a great leader. I don’t take this role lightly and I look forward to taking our company to the next level which requires a total team effort.

As we turn the page into 2017, we have made significant leadership changes that will continue to drive Datameer’s market leadership and improve the culture. As a growing company, we will continue to face challenges and I am eager to approach them with you, head on, in the upcoming year. In light of the feedback we’ve received, we’ve taken steps to ensure that our two most recent executive hires, our SVP of Sales and our CFO, truly reflect Datameer’s values. In addition, our HR organization is building leadership programs to help our team members acquire the skills they need to manage and grow healthy teams.

I approach the upcoming year with gratitude for the opportunity to lead Datameer into the next era, eagerness to continue the momentum we've created in this space, and humility for knowing that every person at this company has made it a privilege to work here.

My priority, and the priority of all leadership at Datameer in 2017, is to continue to evolve our processes, create opportunities for transparent communication and consistently offer feedback loops that identify areas for improvement.  To our current employees, thank you for taking the time to offer your experiences and opinions. A big part of staying focused on the right priorities is listening to feedback like this. Founded in 2009 by some of the original contributors to Apache Hadoop, Datameer has grown to a global team, advancing big data analytics.

Our story

After several implementations of Hadoop analytics solutions at Global 500 companies, the founders were determined to build the next generation analytics application to solve the new use cases created by the explosion of structured and unstructured data. Datameer is the single application for big data analytics by combining data integration, data transformation and data visualization. Customers love us and we work to make Datameer even better each day.



Datameer was founded by Hadoop veterans to re-imagine data analytics and empower anybody with a need for the truth to find it through data analytics.  As such, we have built a company based on a core set of shared values so that we can march toward this goal together.  These values shape who we are and how we make decisions on a daily basis.

    I have been working at Datameer full-time


    The people here are some of the most genuine and warm people I've ever met despite some of the outliers. This company feels like a family to me and I am so glad joined. We've had our fair share of bad moments, but there has also been a tremendous amount of hard work, excitement, and fun throughout. I think the changes that have happened will make the company a better place to work. Unfortunately some of the damage has been done. We must make better decisions moving forward.....and I believe we will.


    -Some of the leadership (in the past) perpetuated the abusive/dictator stereotype.
    -We've taken "lean" a little too far
    -The snacks and beverage situation could be better

    Advice to Management

    -Hiring managers should do more off-site team building activities
    -There needs to be autonomy and flexibility for people to feel ownership and to be empowered
    -There's needs to be open dialogue on how to fix things and move forward

    I went through three round of interviews including behavioral and technical interviews. First one screen, then I came into office to be interviewed. After that, another final interview until I got the offer.
