I worked at Dattner Architects full-time (More than 3 years)
Great firm with a lot of opportunities to work in all areas of design and construction. It's also nice that the projects are primarily in NYC and you can see the impact they have on the city. The firm also has a fairly relaxed atmosphere and a lot of great people to work with!
The wages could be more competitive, however they aren't terrible. The projects are not the most glamours all the time but it's nice that they really help to impact the city in a positive way.
Advice to Management
Better compensation and benefits would be really great, however I think this applies to the whole architectural industry not just Dattner.
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Dattner Architects (New York, NY).
It was a full time position about entry level architecture which is geared towards recent grads. Sent a work sample along with my resume and cover letter and got an email for interview the following day.
Since it was entry level most of the questions were very much geared towards about your software skillset and how well can you manage task and any experience if you have any.
Initially they ask your previous experience and what have you done and how you specifically contributed to the team. They wouldn't be expecting much from you for an entry level position but they still to assess how well can you work with a team.
The partner was nice along with HR. Roughly a hour long interview followed by tour.
