Daugherty Consultant, Bill Skelton is also a sabermetrician — he collects and summarizes relevant baseball data to answer specific questions. Read as he discusses how both positions require a critical thinking mindset, and conventional thinking isn’t always the best or most efficient way to go. #daughertypersonalities
Life at Daugherty isn’t like your typical consulting job. Every team member plays an integral role in our company’s success, and we treat you that way, starting with our culture.
In our Dev Center, specifically, we like to say that we have the culture of a startup with the security of a 30+ year old company. By that, it's a casual, relaxed agile shop focused on helping you create your best work. The other side... Our consultants work in the cities they live, and you don’t have to worry about your job ending when a contract is up.
Our team is helping fortune 500 clients build solutions across a plethora of technologies. It's exciting, takes superior focus, and incredible passion for your work. Do you have what it takes to be part of Team Daugherty?
We hire smart people, help them cultivate their talent, and celebrate their successes. This is the best job you’ll ever have, working with some of the most talented people of your career.

So, what kinds of things do our consultants work on? Here are a few recent developer stories...
Quick Serve Restaurant Breaks Into Home Delivery Service:
A quick-serve restaurant saw an opportunity to grow global sales if they scaled rapidly in the delivery market, so ramping up delivery became the CEO’s top initiative. Daugherty integrated mobile, Point of Sale systems, mobile applications and eCommerce platforms, as well as created and managed a deployment model for delivery ordering strategy. Five months into the program, Daugherty had created incredible impact: 1.6 million-plus orders fulfilled, 4,200-plus restaurants launched globally, and 12 countries with newly offered or expanded delivery.
Tracking Application Saves Agricultural Company Millions:
A multinational agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation was losing $1 million a year to grain spoilages in South America, where transports between facilities and fields could take 48 hours or longer. Sensitive cargo was often exposed to extreme temperatures, moisture or even sun damage. Daugherty built a central dashboard to track all the trucks at once, to gauge a truck’s distance from a processing facility, or to contact plant operators when the grain was reaching dangerous heat or humidity thresholds. The app, which was deployed in South America, has been designed to be used anywhere in the world with very little additional work.
Innovative Application Allows Nonprofit Organizations To Work Together:
A nonprofit organization wanted to find a case management software platform specifically designed for charities. The client had previously developed software to manage their day-to-day, but it was outdated. Daugherty developed the inReach Network, an innovative not-for-profit solution which uses applications for individual offices to run more efficiently and for different charities supporting the same individuals to share pertinent information. Our solution is in use by a number of veterans’ organizations today.
If it’s important to you, it’s important to us. Taking care of where we live and the people in our community is paramount to who we are at Daugherty. We strive to be leaders in corporate philanthropy and citizenship, which means we are constantly working to improve the quality of life in our communities and provide opportunities for team members to get involved, too.
Known as our Good Works Team, they’re responsible for promoting Good Works throughout our organization. Whether planning activities, making charitable contributions, submitting ideas, or simply showing up for events, every team member is welcome to participate, at any level of involvement.
I have been working at Daugherty Business Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)
I passed my 5 year mark at Daugherty late in 2019. All the consultants are smart and collaborative, willing to help each other provide the best possible solution for our clients.
I love working with our industry leading clients. At a client, we talk about the different projects that each of us is working on and share our experiences, which in turn, allows me to be a better consultant.
Training has been stellar over the years, a lot of great techniques to learn. The past couple of years have been focused on Agile methodologies and building solutions.
Consulting is not for everyone and in order to progress, you have to be an ambassador for your own career.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Daugherty Business Solutions (Atlanta, GA) in August 2019.
I had an excellent interview experience at Daugherty. The first step was a phone conversation with Esther Kim who is smart, helpful, honest, and has the necessary technical knowledge that most recruiters are missing.
The second step was an on site interview. This step consists of discussing previous experience, white boarding exercises, and a set of coding exercises on one their machines.
They are looking for smart and talented problem solvers who can learn and correctly use the most appropriate technologies for a given problem. Also, it was great to see that they make an honest attempt to ensure that candidates fit the Daugherty Profile and the technical interview ensures that a software engineer has a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
