In the scrap recycling industry, DJJ has a well-earned reputation for integrity and innovation. We’re recognized as a good community citizen who is trustworthy, financially strong and environmentally proactive. Since 1885, we’ve followed the principles of our founder Joseph Joseph. And become one of the most respected leaders in the industry.
Today, we have relationships with several thousand scrap metal businesses around the world. Businesses that trust us to provide value beyond price. Our customers know we deliver what we promise. Sellers know we pay fairly and on time. Here’s what else sets us apart:
We’re a world leader in scrap processing and trading. And we’re not only helping change old metal back into new, we’re also changing misperceptions of what a scrap company can do… and be.
When we – the more than 1,800 employees of DJJ – look at scrap, we don’t see heaps of rusty, old metal. We see potential. Potential for shiny new cars and appliances. Potential for affordable feedstock for production. And of course, potential for conserving energy and creating a cleaner environment. Then we go to work, harnessing all that potential with the best technology in the business.
Proud. Passionate. Team Players.
Working at DJJ creates a sense of loyalty. We’re passionate about our business and about building relationships that stand the test of time. We’re hands-on self-starters who thrive on opportunities, challenges and have a strong work ethic. We’re competitive but, first and foremost, we’re team players.

I have been working at David J. Joseph full-time (More than 5 years)
Pros
Starting from the top, they do what they can to make you successful. They are wiling to to take chances and put young talent in top roles of the company.
You get real meaningful responsibilities that drive actual business results that are tangible. They don't have paper pushing roles. You come here to work and drive results on the bottom line and when you do, they make sure you are rewarded.
The culture is fantastic. Some of my best friends were made working for this company. People come here to work hard and try to elevate others around them.
Cons
Not really a con of DJJ but of the industry as it is hard to attract young talented individuals as scrap isn't perceived as a "cool" or "sexy"
Advice to Management
Keep taking those risks on young talent
