A beautiful bride! Bloomington, IN - Jessica came in today for her October wedding. When she came in she told us she would probably go with a bridesmaid or special occasion dress because she was unsure how she would look in a wedding gown. We explained to Jessica that she is a bride and deserves to look and feel beautiful. We put her in the first wedding gown and she looked at herself in the mirror and tears starting flowing! She claimed that she never in her life thought she could look this beautiful. She decided that she was now going to change her venue and all her plans to be "a real wedding" because she now looks and feels like a real bride! There wasn't a dry eye in the house!!
Daddy's Little Girl – Peoria, AZ - I had the pleasure of working with my bride, Britnee. I knew prior to the appointment that her father would be flying in from Florida specifically for her bridal appointment as a surprise. During her store tour, I asked Britnee to introduce me to the people she had brought with her. After she introduced everyone she said she wished more than anything that her father could have been here for her special day. I put Britnee in one dress so her dad could sneak in. As Britnee came out of her fitting room in her first gown, her dad said, "That one is pretty but I think you should try these on." She was so surprised! For the remainder of the appointment, Britnee was so thankful and happy that we made her experience so memorable and perfect! Her dad was here when she purchased her dream gown and we truly helped make her dreams come true!
Say Yes to the Groom – Happy Valley, OR - Bride Jessica has been diligently planning her wedding. She knows the theme and the venue, only problem is she's not engaged! That changed today when her friends surprised her with a shopping trip to David's Bridal in Clackamas, Oregon. They begged her to try on some wedding gowns. Jessica hesitated, but finally obliged. After trying on a few dresses, Jessica re-entered her dressing room and her friends gave "the signal." While Jessica was being laced into her next gown, her boyfriend hid in one of the platform rooms. Once Jessica was escorted out to the platform, the door flew open and Jessica's boyfriend gave her the thrill of a lifetime kneeling down on one knee and presenting her with a ring. Of course she said "Yes" and the store exploded with cheers and clapping!
A true Prince Charming... 157 – Fayetteville, NC A couple of weeks ago a gentleman by the name of Scotty came in to our store. His eyes lit up when he talked about how amazing his was. He told me his dream was to surprise her with her dream wedding renewal! He had all of the details planned: a horse and carriage, fireworks and family waiting around the bend! He showed me the flowers and venue and talked about how he would charm her to show up there! The only thing missing...HER DRESS! He said he always envisioned her as a Queen! I was so excited to help him! We walked through the racks and then he saw it! Her perfect dress! Scotty was so excited! He put it on layaway (to hide it from her) and almost went skipping out of the store! We created a fairy tale that day!
Every Penny Helps - Hampton, VA. - We had a bride, Zaida, who came in with her six year old son to try on wedding gowns. She found her gown in the first 20 minutes! When we did the bell ceremony, not only did the bride cry, but so did her son, he was so happy for his mom. Zaida came up to the front to purchase her gown. Her son stepped forward when she was putting her deposit down and insisted that he help her with the payment. He took his wallet out and pulled out two dollar bills and two quarters. Mom told him to put his money away, but he was insistent that he help purchase her gown. Through tears, Zaida decided that he could help her with the purchase. What an incredible moment of generosity and love to witness.
Life Lesson - Lansing, MI. - We all still have tears in our eyes. The night had slowed and we were wrapping up the day. At 8:15, in walks this HUGE group of people saying they need a dress —tonight. While the bride, Courtney, was in her first gown, everyone started crying. When we asked why, the bride told us her groom was just diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. We all pitched in to find everything they need. Courtney found her gown and accessories, as well as her bridesmaids’ dresses. They stayed until after 9:30, but we didn’t care about the time. It was all very emotional. The experience left us all so grateful for what we have as well as the opportunity to help this family out in such a time of need.
Dreams Come True across the Miles – Fayetteville, NC - Here in Fayetteville, we are often the melting pot of cultural backgrounds. We had the pleasure of helping Shona, a bride all the way from Australia! Shona had been in our store previously, but she was very disheartened that her mother could not be a part of the experience as she was back in Australia. Today she came back, and thanks to Skype, we were able to have Mom right alongside of her! Mom was at work all the way in Australia. Cheering alongside of her were her Mom’s coworkers as Shona tried on the dress!
When Shona put on the dress of her dreams, she fell in love, but she said the only way it would be a ‘perfect 10’ is if Mom thought the same thing. When Shona walked her out of the fitting room and her mother saw her, they both started crying! They both knew that this was the dress! We told Mom about our tradition of ringing a bell and asked her to tell Shona to make her wedding wish, making Mom even more a part of the special moment. As Shona rang the bell there was not a dry eye from here to Australia!
I have been working at David's Bridal part-time (Less than a year)
I absolutely love working at David's Bridal. The environment is always positive and who doesn't love helping a bride find her perfect dress. Hours are flexible. Managers are amazing. I really feel like I am growing at David's.
Part-time jobs depend on how many other CSRs there are so hours vary week to week. I wish I worked more.
Advice to Management
Continue to love what you do and encourage your employees to strive to be the best.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at David's Bridal.
Applied online, was then contacted by phone. We scheduled an interview in which I thought I would be one on one with the interviewer, it was actually a group interview. They asked us a few general background questions and showed us around the store.
