I worked at Defense Finance and Accounting Service full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Variety of work to utilize public accounting skills. Greatest joy is knowing you are supporting the US men and women in the military through your work efforts. Work hard, do more than whats in the job description and career progression is great. Salary and benefits are excellent.

    Cons

Many of the automated systems are in various stages of modernization and it's sometimes frustrating when they do not process correctly.

    Advice to Management

It's good to stay focused on productivity and efficiency but not at the sacrifice of employees. Too often the balance is too much to production and not enough on employee welfare. Try to achieve a better balance. Happier employees are far more productive.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

    Interview

I was contacted by DFAS about 3-4 months after I applied for the position. I scheduled a phone interview and it was conducted the next day. Following the phone interview they let me know that they would have a decision made in about 3 weeks. No follow up on in person interview was needed.
