I have been working at Del Valle Independent School District full-time (More than a year)
Great new teacher support, wonderful Sped department, science resources are good, friendly co-workers. Overall one of the best places for a new teacher to learn and grow. Highly recommend working here.
Difficult human resources department, far from Austin, challenging population. If you are an insecure person, you may want to be a teaching assistant instead of start as a teacher at Del Valle High School. This place can make you a strong teacher, but it can also drive away those who are not fully developed mentally for teaching.
Advice to Management
My advice is to pour more energy into making teachers feel like they belong. It is already a supportive community, but there is always room for improvement.
I applied online. I interviewed at Del Valle Independent School District.
Asked the usual questions, especially about classroom management.
The interview seemed to go well, but then I never heard back from them.
I guess that's how things go. But I was hoping to be notified if they had found someone else.
