I worked at Deutsch full-time (More than 8 years)
Great people and office, innovative approach to business. Incredibly non political. Allows you to have a life outside of the office. I always felt respected and needed.
Too much process. Management loves meetings, which can result in bottlenecks or unnecessary back and forth. While improvements are often made as a result on that involvement, you can find yourself managing to meetings rather then greatness.
Advice to Management
Turn your employees loose and focus less on internal reviews. An agency the size of Deutsch should accept the fact that senior management should focus on growth rather then trying to show existing clients they are involved in all accounts.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Deutsch (New York, NY) in July 2016.
Deutsch is one of the leading firms in marketing, but what many people don't know is its ability to provide prospective candidates quality lip service.
I applied online through LinkedIn, and was contacted almost immediately to set up an interview with two members of their team. I talked to them over the phone, and the interview went well. In fact, the HR contacted me the next day to set up a second round of phone interviews with two higher up members.
So the next week came, and I spoke the two higher up members of the team. The interview went well, and one interviewer had said that he hoped to see me in person. I felt that there was a connection and possibly be invited to come in for a face to face interview in New York. Both rounds of interviews were quite easy/relaxed not any technical quizzes.
Fast forward 3 weeks later, after numerous attempts to reach out to their HR rep, she finally picked up the phone. I told her I needed to make a decision as soon as possible regarding another employment opportunity. Her exact words were, "Oh boy. Ok. I will definitely get back to you by the end of the day."
Fast forward another two weeks, and no response. I had to email them and tell them I wasn't interested, but they just ignored my emails and never responded.
This company is unprofessional and rude to prospective clients. The least they could have done is just tell me I didn't get the job, there was no need to let me hang me out and dry. Overall, I would save yourself the energy and not apply for them, because they are a waste. And they offer no skills to prospective data scientists, who want to do something meaningful with their life's work. Avoid at all costs.
