Interview
I must say that all interviewers were very kind, knowledgeable, and to the point. Candidates' expectations management was poor and not professional enough. Examples: 1. The hiring manager was sharing "I received positive feedback from everyone", "we're excited", etc. This raises high expectations for the candidates. Other alternatives could be "After reviewing your applications and feedback we'd like to invite you for the next round" which is a more neutral approach no matter if the candidate has received a good score internally. 2. During the 4th round with a VP, he provided good feedback during the 1:1 meeting/interview and at the end he asked me when I could start. My response was "I can start tomorrow". Four days later, I received a response from the recruiter that "the Hiring team has decided to continue with another candidate". The above shows the lack of empathy during the interviewing process, which unfortunately sets the wrong expectations for the candidates and leads to negative reviews. I've done numerous interviews as a hiring manager in the past and I would say that this should be something everyone needs to follow to provide a great candidate experience.Interview1. Case study 2.
