I have been working at Dominican Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)
Excellent pay, benefits, and retirement plan.
There is a serious disconnect between the branding "Humankindness" and the resources administration gives nursing so we actually have the time to connect with our patients. Chronic understaffing, no nursing support and a system-wide culture of competition are just the highlights. What used to be a first rate hospital has fallen into a third rate category.
Advice to Management
Listen to your nurses! We understanding "Humankindness" and the tools we need to create time and space to convey that to our patients
I applied online. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Dominican Hospital (Santa Cruz, CA).
I applied online and it took a few months to hear back, but once I got the call the interview was scheduled for 2 days later. It was a panel of 3 interviewers, 2 management and 1 charge nurse, and myself. It took about 45 minutes with each of the three asking me questions. They were mostly typical general nursing interview questions that can easily be found on google. It was somewhat relaxed and I didn't feel like I was being interrogated.
