I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Dunbar Armored (San Diego, CA) in August 2017.

I came in and waited for about 30 min before the lady behind the window took my license. She checked it with their database then I sat down again. The supervisor had me sit down in a conference room. It was extremely laid back and comfortable even though I was dressed formally (dress suit, heels etc.) He asked me if I had my permits, if ever driven a large/heavy vehicle, what my husband did, if I wanted to pursue my masters, about how I answered the initial tests, and what I wanted to do in the next 3 years. He also talked to me about the pay and what hours/shifts I wanted. Then he told me this job is a great stepping stone for law enforcement which is what I eventually want to do. It basically felt like I already had the job. I then took the compatibility test for the company. The supervisor told me not to answer like mother Theresa or a depraved lunatic since those would fail me. The questions were repetitive and had to be answered with a yes or no. For example: Do you speed? I answered truthfully and passed. Then I answered a pre-investigative questionnaire. Tell the truth once again. After that, I took the driving test. It was about 30 minutes long. I was evaluated on my speed, lane change, use of mirrors, turn signals, u-turn, ability to navigate tight spaces, backing up with the instructor's help, and overall comfortability of me driving a 26,000 pound vehicle. I felt comfortable with the instructor and we talked about living in San Diego most of the time. I came back and they offered me employment on a piece of paper I had to sign. Then we scheduled the physical/medical test for today. I will be drug tested, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 50 pounds. I'm not worried whatsoever. It has been a great experience overall.
