Dungarvin – Why Work For Us?

undefined

Dungarvin is a national organization of privately owned companies that are dedicated to providing high quality, community-based supports to people with varying support needs.

Founded in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1976, Dungarvin has grown to employ approximately 3,000 people who currently provide supports to over 2,100 individuals across 13 states.

Dungarvin provides a variety of individually tailored services and supports under the Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver.  Additionally, we provide services in several small homes licensed as Intermediate Care Facilities/Mental Retardation (ICF/MR) in Indiana.  Other services provided include day services, supported employment, case management, supported foster care, children’s services, respite care, host homes and supports for persons with traumatic brain injury and mental health needs in several states.  Our quality services are flexible and responsive to individual needs and choices, while maintaining the fiscal integrity that ensures the long-term stability and security every person expects and deserves.

We believe all persons faced with the challenges of a disability have the same rights and the same basic needs as do other citizens without disabilities.

Dungarvin’s mission and values apply to every person we serve, including those with significant behavioral, undefinedmedical and physical challenges.   Dungarvin is committed to principles of self-determination, self-actualization, and to the preservation of dignity of each person we serve, regardless of the nature or degree of their disability.

We encourage you to review Dungarvin’s statements of mission, and philosophy.  These statements help us to maintain our focus and direction.  They assist us in keeping our purpose clear and tangible, in the face of the challenges we encounter each day as a service provider.  Most importantly we insist that each of our employees adhere to the mission and values of our organization as they fulfill their day-to-day responsibilities.

MISSION:

 Dungarvin’s mission is…

…respecting and responding to the choices of people in need of supports.

PHILOSOPHY:

We believe each person has his or her own set of aspirations, goals, strengths, and dreams.

We work closely with each person, and people close to the individual to discover and understand this unique combination.  Utilizing our experience and expertise, we design and provide a constellation of services to support the person in achieving his or her life goals.

Dungarvin understands each person’s need for autonomy and self-determination.  Where barriers exist, we believe a responsive service provider must work creatively to change limiting environments and promote the individual’s decision-making power.  We believe each person should be fully included in his or her community.  Each person must have access to the community’s resources and benefits, including the socially valued roles of being a citizen, neighbor, worker, and friend.  Above all, we believe each person has a right to control his or her own life and destiny.

All human beings, including people with developmental disabilities, have the same basic needs for physical comfort, security, a sense of belonging, love, and fulfillment.  We will provide a unique combination of support, assistance, education, and encouragement that will enable the person to satisfy these needs and triumph in the fulfillment of his or her life goals.

As a responsible service provider, we are committed to offering quality services that are flexible and responsive to the individuals we support.  Dungarvin’s fiscal soundness assures the long-term stability and security every person needs.  Helping people with developmental disabilities achieve their full potential improves the entire community’s quality of life.  Dungarvin is proud to be a part of that process.
