What began as a wallpaper store more than 90 years ago has grown to become one of the largest paint manufacturers in the Southwestern United States.

Frank “Buddy” Dunn founded the company in 1925, not as a paint maker but as a wallpaper store in Los Angeles. The business expanded as he added a line of paints, and later (with two employees) he began manufacturing his own paints in the backroom of the company’s second store.

In 1938, he partnered with his friend Arthur C. Edwards, a former painting contractor and pigment salesman, to form the Dunn-Edwards Corporation. Sales immediately improved, and a business philosophy was born: “Make the finest line of paint and give the best service at fair prices.” It’s a philosophy that endures through this day.

    Dunn Edwards has helped provide me the opportunity to make a difference with what I do each day. I have personally felt the impact of the values and beliefs that have been shared with me by the people that have helped make this company what it is. It's very rare in these days to find long tenured employees who still enjoy what they do. It is within those people that inspire me to come to work everyday. Dunn Edwards gives me the support I need to be the best I can be and and love what I do. I have never worked with such a team, from top to bottom, that has shown a genuine interest in me like Dunn Edwards has. From Day One, I have felt welcomed and supported from those around me.

    I started out with the company 4 years ago. That was just the beginning. That was the first step in finding my purpose. Dunn Edwards has a way of finding the top talent from the workforce and has allowed the people it's hired, to contribute to it's success. There have been multiple managers that have been there to help me daily. My peers continue to push me to be better daily and to help our company grow as a whole. I have the privilege to pay it forward each day to my team. That just makes me want to come to work and make the world a more colorful place.


    I wish I didn't wait so long to join this team.

    Keep pushing our people. The fact that you are deeply engaged in investing in your people is one of the best benefits that I have. My Management Team cares about me and wants to support me as I continue to grow my career. Thank you for all that you do. You guys are awesome!

    I applied in-person. I interviewed at Dunn-Edwards.


    It was a 3 step process- First was a panel interview with other store managers. The second interview was with the Regional and Area manager. Then the third and final was with Regional Manager and Vice President of Store Operations
