I worked at EAST MEETS WEST FOUNDATION (Less than a year)
Easy going staff which made the job enjoyable.
Training was quick and thorough. I was quickly moved to working on register within the first month or so.
Being that it was a spiritual store, I was constantly learning new and awesome things about religions as well as chakras and things of that nature. It was the kind of job that always kept you wanting to ask the senior employees more questions- which they were happy to answer!
Quickly promoted to key-holder within the first 5 months of employment.
The pay wasn't all that great. As a key holder I only made a little above minimum wage.
Being a key holder DID NOT make you a store manager nor assistant manager; even though as a key holder you had a lot of responsibilities like checking in new merchandise and what not.
To put it bluntly, you were making just above minimum wage with way more responsibility than it was worth. Though I was happy and proud that I became a key holder so fast, being a key holder wasn't worth the low pay...
Also your probability of ever becoming a manager or anything higher than a key holder is slim to none.
Advice to Management
Please pay your future employees more! The job itself is so much fun and yes, the staff is great but we were given far too much responsibility for very little pay.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at EAST MEETS WEST FOUNDATION.
Quick and easy interview. It felt more personal than professional which really made me feel comfortable speaking with the manager. She was very laid back and asked simple questions.
