    Application

    I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at EDGAR Online (Bellevue, WA) in July 2011.

    Interview

    I applied online and this was nearly immediately followed up with a phone call from the hiring manager. We arranged a phone interview in two days, and that went well, though it was quite lengthy. Then we arranged an in-person interview. I spoke with several members of the team and the VP of Product Management.

    I liked the openness of the culture, and appreciated immediately that the office was full of smart, friendly people. There was a positive attitude while facing a challenging, competitive marketplace, though it was great to learn that the company employed some founders of the technology that underlies all of the company's products.

    Negotiation

    I dealt with the VP of HR and he was excellent; couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The initial offer was slightly below my hoped-for salary, but they let me know that they were at the top of the range for the position. I asked if they would negotiate an extra week of paid vacation since I had had more at previous employers, and after a single-day check with a C-level, that was granted. The pay is high-average for the industry for this size company and they were great to deal with throughout the process, honest and really interested in making it work for me and the company.
