EQT Corporation – Why Work For Us?

Through safe and responsible operations, EQT is committed to meeting the country’s growing demand for clean-burning energy, while continuing to provide a rewarding workplace and enrich the communities where our employees live and work.

  • Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA for 130 years
  • Publicly traded - NYSE: EQT
  • Largest natural gas producer in the United States
  • Originally created as a gas utility company by The Philadelphia Company in 1888 to provide quality, reliable natural gas service to the greater Pittsburgh area
  • Company was rebranded in 2009 as EQT
  • Primary emphasis on Appalachian area natural gas production
  • Committed to meeting the country's growing demand for clean-burning energy
  • Above all else, EQT values safety - requiring employees and contractors to adhere to rigorous safety standards, conducting regular safety training, and monitoring safety performance metrics.

As the number one producer of natural gas in the United States, EQT's operations include production of oil and gas reserves; including gas extraction through safe and efficient horizontal drilling technology.  EQT's Commercial team works to manage the Company's supply/demand balance through its gas marketing activities.

EQT is a leader in the use of innovative natural gas drilling technology – designed to minimize the potential impact of drilling-related activities and reduce the overall environmental footprint of our operations. Our core natural gas production and pipeline infrastructure focuses in southwestern Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia, and eastern Ohio.  As of November 1, 2018, EQT's assets consisted of approximately one million net Marcellus acres, including approximately 680,000 core net acres in the Marcellus play.

Commercial Activities

As EQT’s customer-facing entity, the Commercial group manages the commodity sales, transportation, processing, and hedging of EQT’s produced natural gas. They work to place the Company’s produced commodities in the hands of end-users, particularly in areas where demand is on the rise, which facilitates opportunities for future growth over-the-long-term. The Commercial team adds value by providing transactional support that includes market outlook information, deal structuring, and risk management capabilities. This work also includes actively diversifying EQT’s end-use markets and transportation portfolio in order to optimize the Company’s physical assets to capture synergistic value through commodity purchases, transportation utilization, and end-use sales opportunities.

Employees are EQT’s greatest assets and we genuinely value each member of our workforce. EQT participates in a yearly engagement survey to benchmark employee satisfaction and we strive to exceed our employees’ expectations. Using feedback from our employees, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has named EQT a Top Workplace in the southwestern Pennsylvania region for five consecutive years!

I have been working at EQT Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

If you work hard and put in the effort it takes the opportunity to move up through the organization is exponential. The benefits are excellent and employee support structure is in place whether you have personal issues or need extended family time. EQT is pay by performance, at any level you have the capability of earning much more than peers in the basin. Over the last 5 years we have improved making decisions based on data and the overall beaurocracy of a large company is not present. Ideas from the lowest level employee to upper management can be vetted and implemented quickly.

The recent changes and external distractions are getting tiresome.

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at EQT Corporation in September 2017.

I got an invite to interview with them through Handshake. There was a brief info session the day before the interviews. The interview itself consisted of mostly behavioral questions. The interviewers were engineers themselves.
