I worked at ESI Construction full-time

Outstanding business model, executive management that execute ESI's corporate vision. Neil Nelson personally hand selects company management, project managers and the superintendents that he wishes to be apart of the ESI Team. This construction firm is hands down one of the best in the business. It was a pleasure being designated to head up opening the very first Denver satellite office and Rocky Mountain Division for Neil and the ESI Team.

Standard corporate growth pains for a growing company. Satellite office support was controlled via the corporate office in Meridian, Idaho which was challenging at times. All in all once the kinks are worked out, ESI will flourish well due to the vision ESI has and the company culture ESI has in place.

    Advice to Management

Support those that work remote in satellite offices with hiring APM's and a PC's for the locations.

    Average Interview

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at ESI Construction (Meridian, ID) in August 2013.

Neil Nelson called me personally for a phone screening which lasted about an hour long. Mr. Nelson then extended a personal invitation to fly me from Denver to Boise to meet with him and discuss his Denver satellite office vision, my new role working remote and his expectations and vision for me. Neil covered the uniqueness of the ESI culture, his personal vision for the company as a whole, the new ESI Express Division and where he thought I'd make for a good fit.

After arriving to the ESI corporate headquarters after an early morning flight I sat in the lobby for well over an hour as Neil was in the middle of a significant bid for a significant project.

    Interview Questions

    • Neil asked me the normal questions that a president of a construction company would ask. He asked me what my vision would be heading up the Denver office, cultivating new clientele for the new Rocky Mountain Division. Mr. Nelson covered and outlined the ESI culture and why he hand selected his management team and why he does the specific practice. I was very satisfied with Neil's presentation and flattered when he offered me the position.   1 Answer
