ESS provides opportunities to work on interesting and technically challenging projects, with a focus on innovative projects that require special expertise. ESS offers the ability to work across disciplines and learn new skills or obtain certifications. The people are dedicated and friendly, management is fairly laid back.
Compensation level isn't quite competitive compared to larger consulting firms, staff resources and project budgets can sometimes be tight as a result, and staff retention can be an issue. Small size makes internal promotions difficult.
Advice to Management
Reevaluate salaries as compared to competitors, focus on retaining mid-level staff for promotions to management level rather than hiring from outside.

Very strong and interesting interview process. Likes versatile scientists and engineers that can bring in business. Look for actual skills and can sort through the sell. Will check references and confirm ability to perform against expectations.
