EWI – Why Work For Us?

We frequently ask our Associates what they like about working here and what changes could make EWI an even better place to work. Our Associates frequently mention two facets of work they value: one, the people they work with are smart, creative and are “in your corner;” and two, there is a lot of variety in the technical challenges people work on – coming from all industries.

EWI offers a work experience where the exchange of diverse ideas is encouraged, and where you can learn and grow. We’re looking for individuals who enjoy the entrepreneurial thrill of invention and who enjoy working as a team to create a satisfying outcome for our clients.

What We Do – Our Business

EWI is an advanced engineering services company that develops and implements manufacturing solutions at our three locations:
• Columbus, OH – Primarily Materials Joining and Forming Solutions
• Buffalo, NY –Primarily Automation, Additive Manufacturing, and Material Characterization Solutions

EWI’s mission is to shape the future of manufacturing through innovative technology solutions

EWI is the leading engineering and technology organization in North America dedicated to developing, testing, and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies for industry. Since 1984, we have provided applied research, manufacturing support, and strategic services to leaders in the aerospace, automotive, consumer products, electronics, medical, energy & chemical, government, and heavy manufacturing industries. By matching our expertise in materials joining, forming, testing, and modeling to the needs of forward-thinking manufacturers, we successfully create practical, efficient, and effective solutions in product design, fabrication, and production.

In addition to the services and products available to customers on a per-project basis, EWI offers organization membership to help companies get the most from working with us. With direct access to our highly skilled technical staff, facilities, and library research services, members are able to solve their toughest problems, deliver higher quality products faster, and gain the competitive edge in a rapidly changing manufacturing environment.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, EWI also has technology centers in Buffalo, NY, and Loveland, Colorado. We also operate a consortia and cooperatives that act as hubs for the advancement of specific technologies and industries; all of which are designed to improve public/private collaboration, strengthen U.S. manufacturing supply chains, and make U.S. manufacturers more competitive on a global scale.

With a wide variety of technology test labs and $35 million of capital equipment in our three laboratory locations, EWI’s Associates – 160+ engineers, technicians, industry experts, and member advocates – can help you address your process and production issues, and make your operation more competitive through manufacturing technology innovation.

“Overall, as a source of expertise and evidence, EWI is more empirical and objective than other manufacturing technology services and consultants. Plus, the people are very accommodating.”

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at EWI (Columbus, OH) in October 2013.

Initial was a basic phone interview. Typical questions, background, education, reason for looking, etc... The second interview was onsite and was a few hours long (included lunch). Met with several people and departments. Had to give a presentation on a previous project. Very thorough process.
