I worked at East Central College full-time (More than 5 years)
Great benefits - paid vacation, insurance, sick days, & etc.
Upper management doesn't listen to staff
There is definitely a Class system setup: Administration, Faculty, Prof. Staff and Staff. If you are Prof. Staff you get higher pay and longer hours with little voice. If you are staff you have no voice but you only work 40 hours a week.
They give an across the board raises not based on merit. This causes many to be lazy and not do their job well. And they rarely fire anyone.
Advice to Management
Communication is a wonderful tool. Use it.
I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at East Central College (Union, MO) in March 2014.
There were 5 interviewers in the interview board. Each person took turn to ask me about my credentials. They were trying to figure out if I was the right candidate for the job or not. They asked me the way I teach. After that, two of the interviewers acted as students and came to me with College Algebra word problems to find out my teaching skills. I tried my best to help the acting student to clear her math concept in a short amount of time.
