If you're a parent, working for the school system is nice (it fits around your kids' schedules)
The administration has a very high turnover rate, making it difficult for policies to be enforced (since they are constantly changing); non-tenured staff are treated poorly; lots of politicking, no support from administration; pay is very, very low; non-salaried employees get no benefits; hourly employees are not allowed to work more than 30 hours/week (are expected to have a second job in order to be financially solvent); no vertical movement opportunities

Survey your employees to find out what their satisfaction level is, and what you can do to raise it.
