Mission: EMHS partners with individuals and communities to improve health and well-being by providing high quality, cost effective services.
I have been working at Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems full-time (More than 5 years)
Healthcare as an industry is going through growing pains and this place is one of the best places to work in Maine if you want to be a part of the transformation. Personally I work in a great department with a good boss. Overall I find most of the people here are happy and warm.
Change happens very slowly here. The biggest challenge to EMHS is that the organization can't get out of its own way. Overly complex bureaucracy and the left hand doesnt know what the right hand knows. A culture of insecurity and distrust is growing.
Advice to Management
If you don't treat your staff and employees like the fully-formed adults they are then the cultural trend of distrust will only escalate. You have some amazing leaders and employees there that see that things CAN be different. Listen to them and give them a chance.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems (Brewer, ME) in December 2015.
The overall process took about six weeks. After applying online the hiring manager called within a week to invite me to interview. I interviewed onsite with the manager for about 45 minutes and was given a tour of the department. I was shown first hand some of the work I would be doing. I was given many opportunities to ask questions about the job. The interview wasn't overly structured. A couple weeks later human resources called to follow up with some logistical questions. They made an offer another two weeks later.
