I have been working at Eastern Research Group, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Good benefits (401k with employer matching; paid vacation and sick leave)
Good work environment: managers are reasonable, flat management structure so you don't have to go through a billion people to get something approved

    Cons

Mostly state and federal clients so closely tied to government budgets (government furlough = ERG furlough).
Work life balance can be a challenge, depending on the projects you are working on.
Career development can be a challenge as it is easy to get pigeonholed into one area. You usually have to carve out your own area, but only if management supports it.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Eastern Research Group, Inc. (Arlington, VA) in February 2017.

    Interview

Applied in September, Phone Interview in January, Invited on site for interview in February, offered job a week later. Phone interview was position description and resume clarification. On site interview was all day, taken out for meals, was very laid back and conversational. They don't drill on specific topics or background information. Technical presentation was most stressful part, but as long as you know your topic, it's not too bad.

    Interview Questions

    • They will ask about your background towards job specific skills, time management, technical writing, etc.   Answer Question
    • Why do you want to go into consulting?   Answer Question
