I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (Columbus, OH) in September 2011.
There isn't an interview. You get the required background check, fill out the required applications and forms, send in the letters of recommendation, obtain at least a substitute teaching license and attend a training session that lasts several hours and you are entered into the system.
There is no negotiation. The pay is set and varies depending on the school district you work for and the type of job assignment you accept.
