I have been working at Effective Spend full-time (More than 3 years)
This is a really great place to work because not only will you learn a lot while here but there's great opportunity to advance/progress.
After 3 years I can say the work itself is never boring, and you get to work with a range of different clients and know that what you're doing is having an impact on their success.
I joined at Campaign Manager level and worked my way up to Account Manager where I'm now responsible for others and growing a team. It's a great feeling to progress and grow with the company.
You're given the training you need to succeed at the job and learn industry leading practices from a lot of people who really know their stuff! There's a formalized initial training and then personalized training with managers following that to focus on what you yourself need/want to work on.
More importantly though managers are very open to and actually look for your ideas on how to improve client performance, even early on, so you know you're a valued member of the team.
There's a great atmosphere in the office with everyone being very friendly and willing to help. There's a lot of opportunity to bond with others in the agency with participating in sports through Austin SCC, after work happy hours, and things like Foosball and Video Games in the office for breaks. I made great friends here after I moved to Austin.
Company events are also great, from casino nights, murder mysteries, and boat parties, to ice cream truck visits, an annual pot luck Thanksgiving party, Halloween parties, and more! On Fridays we also have beer on tap or other beverages for our all-hands meetings.
Hard to think of cons so these are more warnings if you're going to join.
You're certainly kept busy, which is also somewhat positive, but it means you really have to stay on top of your tasks and be organized.
Performance expectations are high but it's been a key to the success so far. It can feel overwhelming sometimes but work with your manager and the rest of the support available to overcome this.
After taking more and more people on recently it's difficult on some shared resources such as meeting rooms. This supposedly will improve with a new office space however but make sure you've space booked in advance.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you're doing! I've really enjoyed my time here.
I applied online. I interviewed at Effective Spend (Austin, TX) in September 2017.
The first thing I would say is that it took too long to get a phone interview. Very drawn out process. I am not great during phone interviews already and the person I spoke to sounded bored and uninterested. It squashed my enthusiasm.
