I worked at Emap full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent business culture and a commitment to providing personal development
Created a strong social element to work and plenty of opportunities for colleagues to socialise
Attracted highly talented people to the company, particularly in editorial jobs
Rewarded staff for delivering success (though defined success largely as 'profit')
Promoted internally and offered opportunities for people to move around the business
Offered lots of opportunities for training and learning

    Cons

Extremely slow to move on digital investment, particularly in skills and staff
Budget cuts were the standard reaction to concerns over hitting revenue targets
Salaries were average, not attractive (at most levels)

    Advice to Management

Consult younger staff on strategic decisions
Avoid asking employees to do more with less (fewer staff, lack of tech, cut budgets)

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Emap (Old Street, England (UK)).

    Interview

Quick and straight forward - i applied through the University and was offered placement really quick. I was supported by Editorial Assistance all the way. through the process. She was very quick to come back to my emails and also was always there for me during the placement
