Emerge – Why Work For Us?

Jordan Family

“It’s been quite a journey to get here—the future is most definitely bright.”

Meet Jordan, who has been with Emerge for over a year and is located in San Jose, California.

Initially brought on board to work on a tool that houses incremental promotions, Jordan was recently promoted to a lead position within the organization. He is now responsible for driving efforts that ultimately change and innovate the way we do business.

Jordan

Jordan loves his role because it involves cross-functional collaboration and interaction with stakeholders. He has created many solid relationships and met some wonderful people from all over the world. There is never a dull day and the speed at which things move is pretty impressive—one has to be fully immersed to stay on top of all the moving pieces. He advises anyone new and just starting out to ask questions and try not to get overwhelmed. The influx of information for someone new to the team can be great, but he’s found that if you put the time in and are willing to speak up, it will all come together.

Outside of work Jordan and his wonderful wife, Nacime, have a great time doing anything together—whether it’s spending time at the beach, barbecuing in the backyard or watching movies. Jordan was raised in New England and is a massive Red Sox fan. He’s also a huge music guy—he’d get to a show every weekend if he could. He’s always increasing his vinyl collection and has been playing drums for many years.

What inspires you?

My kids. I have always done my best to lead by example and ensure that they have the brightest futures possible. They are 14 & 19 now and have truly become awesome young men.

What do you love about working for Emerge?

Emerge is the most professional, well put together company of all the vendors I have worked for. I love the dependability as well as ease of contact—I have a handful of people that I know I can reach out to for a quick, honest answer—and I also really appreciate the internal opportunities. They believed in me when the lead role came along and I’m definitely glad I accepted.

“Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you.”

Meet Jen—A Community Manager in New York City, and an Emerge team member since 2013.

JenIn her role, Jen receives user feedback and translates it into actionable fixes or features for the product team. It’s a fun challenge, especially when she’s able to make improvements to the client’s website.

Her advice for those just starting out is to make friends with everyone. Go for coffee chats and remember names. You never know who will have something to share or be helpful in the future!

Outside of work, Jen spends her weekends climbing in upstate New York or hiking with her dog, Frida.

What inspires you?

I am interested in social entrepreneurship. There’s some really cool people out there doing good in sustainable, savvy ways.

What do you love about working for Emerge?

The people, of course!

“He who says he can, and he who says he can’t, are both usually right.”

Meet Ilias, an Operation Analyst in Phoenix, Arizona. He partners with a team of consultants in the West Region of North America. His role is to establish innovative team-based approaches that will accelerate growth, drive efficiency and build relationships with clients.

What makes Ilias unique is that he possesses great dedication and a willingness to make sure that his peers are equally set up for success. He has participated in new hire training call listening sessions to highlight and share his learnings—both from positive and challenging circumstances. He is always willing to take time out and work with peers on building confidence in speaking with clients through side-by-side call listening, as well as taking time to help perfect verbiage in emails resulting in more effective client communication.

His favorite part of his role is being able to connect with the team in the field and having a pivotal role in their success. The responsibility of being part of a paramount support team is rewarding — when they succeed, he succeeds. One must be able to adapt and pivot when necessary. That is key in a role like Ilias’s, because things are consistently changing.

Ilias loves to spend time with his family. He stays active whether at the gym, hiking or playing soccer. He likes hanging out with friends, traveling, learning and exploring what the world has to offer.

What inspires you?

My mother—100%. She raised me on her own in New York. She exemplifies the idea of sacrifice. She shows me the example of selflessness and putting others before you. I will never amount to how human she is, but I can shoot for it. I aim to succeed, not only for myself, but for her.

What do you love about working for Emerge?

I love the environment! It’s such a close-knit group. The role has something new to offer every day. I’m always doing something new and different which is key for me. Work is never stale. I am happy and blessed to be here.

All About U | Summit 2016

Every year, we host a two-day training and development event at our Phoenix, Arizona location. This year’s Summit was a time to celebrate the different perspectives and styles of each individual team member, recognizing that each team member is unique.

Day 1—DISC training

Events

Our training focused on DISC training — a common language in communication and behavior preferences. DISC helps participants recognize four main styles in both themselves and others: Dominance, Influencer, Steadiness and Conscientiousness. Through role playing, team members learned how to best communicate with each type for better results and teamwork. DISC was widely embraced and the team building exercise, ‘The Marshmallow Challenge’, was a great way to put that teamwork into action.

yoga

As part of lunch break, team members participated in a chair yoga class lead by one of our team members. It was a great opportunity to stretch and center our thoughts.

Day 2—Celebrating success

After a rigorous day of Leadership training, we hosted an awards dinner recognizing exceptional team members in the categories of Excellence, Inspiration and Leadership. Winners were nominated by their managers and supervisors, with their past year’s accomplishments in mind.

Emerge has talent!

TalentOnce the formal awards wrapped up, the talent show began. All four acts completely blew us away. To determine the winner, the crowd’s reaction was evaluated by the judges. There was a moment of hushed anticipation as the final award was given for Anne’s rendition of “Hallelujah”—and the crowd went wild!

The collective energy that was felt was nothing short of inspiring. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

Where in the world is Leo Linder?

Our CEO, Leo Linder, is always on the go! From a visit to the New York Stock Exchange, to visiting clients & team members in Tokyo, we’re always excited to see what trail he will blaze next.

NYC – Leo at the closing bell

Leo

Leo was spotted at the NASDAQ closing bell on May 18 as a part of Innovation Week Sponsored by YPO. The time-honored tradition of ringing the bell is considered by many to be an honor and a symbol of a lifetime of achievement.

Leo tours Tokyo by foot, rail and sea

bullet Train

Leo was able to cover a lot of ground using Japan’s high speed bullet trains, also known as Shinkansen trains. The high speed rail system offers an experience like no other with speeds reaching up to almost 200 miles per hour!

Leo joined some of our Tokyo-based team members in the Yamathon, a 50k race. The Yamathon is a physical and navigational charity challenge where teams of three or four people walk around the Yamanote line, starting at Tokyo Tokia Building (close to Tokyo Station), in less than 12 hours. The Yamanote line is Japan’s busiest and most important commuter rail line which circles the capital.

Emerge participates in United Way of NYC’s Gridiron Gala benefit

Throughout the year, United Way of New York City hosts an array of events that invite donors, partner corporations and nonprofits, and community leaders to network, advocate and raise awareness and support for their work.

The 2016 Gridiron Gala raised $1.8 million for New York City’s most challenged communities, while honoring corporate leaders, New York Jets players, New York Giants players and coaches who have demonstrated a deep philanthropic commitment to the city.

We believe in the mission of the United Way and are proud to be a sponsor of this amazing event!

It started with a VIP cocktail reception, then a dinner broken up into “quarters”. The host was NY Giants running back Rashad Jennings who shared an inspiring story of how he used to be an un-athletic, asthmatic little guy in glasses, but has grown to become an NFL football player who gives back to the community with his charities. A youth marching band that performed some fun, current pop songs opened the night by bringing a group of first graders who have benefited from the United Way’s programs up on stage.
