    I worked at Engagio full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    This is an interesting review to write, given that both myself and Engagio took a chance on putting me in a key growth role where the world was very much unknown. Engagio was extremely transparent about this from the interview all the way to the offer. For a number of reasons (both controllable and uncontrollable) it didn't quite work out for either of us, but the level of professionalism, transparency, and empathy for the situation was unparalleled in my years of experience in the Silicon Valley. This is a company full of smart, passionate executives that want to build something special for the long haul. Although I am no longer there and the experience in the trenches wasn't quite how I would have drawn it up when I accepted the original offer, this is a company I will root for moving forward and that is on their way to something great.

    I enjoyed working at Engagio. The team is incredible with everyone willing to consistently go above and beyond to support each other and our customers. The platform is strong and getting better with every release. The culture is one of performance, accountability, and respect. The culture is very intentional and deliberately fostered through big and small actions, ranging from regular employee feedback surveys, weekly all hands, fun events, 1:1's and more.

    Cons

    Not really a con, but be aware that this is a startup that is creating a new market space. The marketing technology space is "busy" and it will take a lot of work to stand out from the crowd.

    Advice to Management

    Continue the very deliberate practice of building the culture and open, transparent communication.

    Application

    I applied online. I interviewed at Engagio (San Francisco, CA) in August 2017.

    Interview

    I set up the interview through Ray Carroll who was formerly a sales leader at Marketo. From the beginning, he provided transparency, guidance, and it was clear that Ray was building a stellar sales team that added to there already rich culture.

    First interview was a phone/video interview with Ray - a get to know you interview. He is a straight shooter and will let you know how they have performed, why they are looking to hire, and the expectations for the role. Aside from my awkward technical difficulties with Zoom, we both concluded it would be good to meet the team to further assess fit.

    Onsite meeting scheduled for 2 hours with 4 people - 2 Account Managers, a SE/product consultant, and Ray. The team was great and overall the onsite experience was excellent - they are all in it to win it and it is a very inclusive culture. They will get to know your strengths and weaknesses and also help you understand the ups and downs of the business.

    At the end of the day, there was no offer, however I am rooting for the Engagio and their team.
