Enterprising Customer Service: Working to create a better rental experience for the hearing impaired

When an Enterprise customer in Davie, Florida approached the rental counter, he knew his experience would be challenging. Because, as someone born nearly deaf, that's how almost all of his similar retail experiences go. "Personal interactions with people I don't know, like renting a car, are something I never look forward to," he said in an email to Enterprise.

Enterprise – Why Work For Us?

At Enterprise Rent-A-Car, we began our story in the neighborhoods we serve.

Operated by Enterprise Holdings, we’re a family-owned, privately held company belonging to a world-class portfolio of brands that includes Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental. Since we opened our doors more than 60 years ago, our singular focus has been supporting each other, so we can best serve our customers and grow our brands. Today, we’re known for our extraordinary level of customer service at our more than 7,700 global Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood and airport locations.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is part of a global network that spans more than 90 countries.

Some 100,000 dedicated team members sharing common values. And more than 1.9 million vehicles taking our customers wherever they need to go. And with the constant evolution of our industry, we continue to grow our business – and add to our variety of career opportunities.

Our people are the reason for our success. By living out our values each day and providing exceptional customer service, we’ve built a strong culture – one in which we bring honesty and integrity to all we do.

As an Enterprise Management Trainee, your development will be hands-on.

From day one, you’ll be given real responsibility – and be expected to own it. You’ll take care of customers, connect with your community and live our values. And you’ll learn what it takes to manage a multimillion-dollar business. That’s just the beginning of how we can take your career further.

As a Management Trainee, the skills and experience you gain will be the foundation of your career. We have the training and support you need at every step of the way.

We’ll start you out close to home at one of our neighborhood locations. You’ll build relationships with coworkers, customers and mentors. You’ll learn everything from how to exceed our customers’ expectations, to the principles of accounting. You’ll also help grow the business by building relationships with local businesses, as well as learn how to manage a team of people and a fleet of hundreds of vehicles.

As a Management Trainee, the more you put into the program, the more you’ll get out of it. We promote from within, based on performance. Not seniority. See our promote-from-within philosophy in action.

This is a great place to kick-start your career.

For more than a decade, Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been recognized as one of the largest recruiters of college graduates in the US. We’re a proven training ground – with amazing ground-floor opportunities that have corner office potential. From day one, you'll learn our business, and make decisions that have an impact. This is your chance to make a difference from the word GO.

Internships

As an intern, you’ll gain the real-world experience you need to stand out from the crowd. Learn more about our internship opportunities.

We value giving back to the communities we serve.

You’ll see it through company support -- such as our pledge to donate $60 million to fight hunger -- and in how we encourage each of our employees to make a positive impact in the neighborhoods where we do business.

    Manager Trainee Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Enterprise (Tampa, FL) in February 2019.

    Interview

The interview process was intense at first. There were 3 different interviews with 4 different people. My first interview with the talent acquisition HR representative was informative. Christina answered every question I had about the company and even some I did not think of. She provided me with clear roadmap of what the position was and what doors could be opened for me. My second interview was with the man who would be my direct supervisor and his supervisor. I spent the first hour observing how the branch operates and the employee interactions with customers. After the observation I met with Joe and Ken. They again were very up front about what the position was and what exactly I was preparing to get myself into. The third interview was with the Group Rental Manager Roland. He was great. He made sure I understood that this wasn’t going to be a cake walk. This position requires hard work and dedication in order to succeed. He asked the same questions the others did, however I think at this interview is when it really sank in that I was not only getting ready to commit to a company but also to myself and my future. Everyone was supportive and attentive to the things I was saying about myself and my skill sit. They all made sure I was ready to leave my previous career path and start a new journey with Enterprise.
