The most visible part of the total rewards package is your paycheck. Equifax uses competitive market survey data to establish pay ranges that are appropriate for our various operations. Annual base pay increases are determined by your achievement of individual goals, the results of your business unit, and the overall results of the company.

Health and Wellness

Medical and Prescription Drug, Dental and Vision Care

Equifax provides comprehensive coverage that promotes good health and provides protection for you and your eligible dependents effective the first day of the month after you make your elections.

The medical and prescription drug program allows you an option between 2 (two) plan options: Open Access Plus (a preferred provider organization, 'PPO') and Choice Fund Open Access Plus (a consumer-driven health plan, 'CDHP').

Medical and prescription drug and dental benefits are administered by Cigna. The vision benefits are insured by EyeMed.

Wellness Programs

Equifax offers two Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options: the Health Care Reimbursement Account and Dependent Care Reimbursement Account. These provide tax advantages by allowing you to pay for certain, eligible health and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars subject to IRS guidelines. Annual contributions are limited to $2,500 for health care and $5,000 for dependent care. 

Equifax also offers a Health Savings Account (HSA) as a complement to the Choice Fund Open Access Plus plan. Equifax helps Choice Fund Access Plus plan participants fund the HSA by contributing up to $350 (employee only coverage) or $700 (employee with any level of dependent coverage). Employees have an opportunity to earn additional Equifax HSA funding upon completion of certain wellness-related activities – up to $150 (employee only coverage) or $300 (employee with any level of dependent coverage). For 2014, total HSA contributions – Equifax and employee contributions combined – are limited to $3,300 (employee only coverage) or $6,550 (employee with any level of dependent coverage). There is an additional $1,000 "catch up" contribution allowed for those age 55 and older.

Personal Accounts

Equifax offers two Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options: the Health Care Reimbursement Account and Dependent Care Reimbursement Account. These provide tax advantages by allowing you to pay for certain, eligible health and dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars subject to IRS guidelines. Annual contributions are limited to $2,500 for health care and $5,000 for dependent care. 

Although we do offer a qualified High Deductible Health Plan which is Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible, Equifax does not sponsor the offering of an HSA at the present time. However, if enrolled in this plan option, you may set up an individual account on your own with an institution of your choice.

Insurance and Disability Coverage

Equifax provides you with free basic life insurance coverage equal to one times your annual eligible earnings up to $250,000 ($50,000 minimum benefit) effective on your date of hire.

You may purchase additional life insurance for yourself at 1, 2, 3 or 4 times your eligible earnings up to $1 million. You may also purchase life insurance for your eligible spouse or domestic partner in $10,000 increments up to $50,000. Life insurance coverage for your dependent child(ren) is available at a $10,000 benefit level. 

Equifax also provides, at no cost to you, short-term disability and basic long-term disability coverage. Basic long-term disability coverage provides 50% income replacement up to $10,000 per month. Additional long-term disability coverage is available for purchase to provide another 10% or 20% of income replacement, as you may elect. 


Equifax's 401(k) Savings Plan, through Fidelity, allows you to save for retirement, on a pre- or post-tax basis, up to 30% of your pay. For 2014, the pre-tax contribution limit is $17,500. If you reach age 50 by December 31, 2014, you can contribute an additional $5,500, for a total contribution of $23,000. 

The company discretionary match is targeted to be 100% of employee contributions up to 4%. After satisfying a one (1) year eligibility rule, an eligible employee will receive an annual direct company contribution (made separate from and in addition to the match) ranging from 1.5% to 4% of pay, depending on years of service. The discretionary direct company contribution is 100% vested after three (3) years of service. 

There is no waiting period for this program other than the one (1) year service required to be eligible for the direct company contribution described above. New hires are automatically enrolled shortly after date of hire with a 3% pre-tax election; however, you may opt out of participation or change your pre-tax election to a percentage other than 3% at any time.

Lifestyle Benefits

Tuition Reimbursement

Equifax recognizes the mutual benefit of assisting employees in obtaining higher education. As a result, Equifax offers a tuition assistance benefit for business-related courses towards job-related degrees. All full-time employees with a minimum six months of service and who are meeting their current job performance expectations are eligible for this value-added benefit.

Paid Volunteer Day

Equifax employees have always shown their enthusiasm and passion for supporting the communities in which we live and work by volunteering their time in numerous areas. Equifax says "thanks" by making it easier to support strategic community partners by providing one 8-hour paid volunteer day per year.

Matching Gifts Program

Each year, Equifax will match your donations between $50 and $5,000 to a 501(c)(3) organization.

Paid Time Off

Equifax offers a generous vacation or paid time off and holiday schedule for full-time eligible employees. During your first year, the amount of vacation you earn is prorated depending on when your first day of employment occurs. 

There is also a paid time off policy for part-time employees working at least 25 hours per week.

    I have been working at Equifax full-time (More than a year)


    The security breach in 2017 was a Pearl Harbor moment, and everything is different afterwards for the Security and IT departments.
    The culture is changing from the top on down with new leadership that looks much more focused and effective.
    Culture change is slow, but it's clearly underway. There is more support for security here now than you will find anywhere else. I mean actual buy-in, not just lip service (which is typical most places). Business leaders' bonuses are directly tied to security results (that gets their attention). Anything with High or Critical security problems will be shutdown without hesitation (which is pretty rare even in financial companies).
    That being said, there is a lot of work to do. So expect being both productive and busy. The hours are still reasonable, as management doesn't want people to burn out.
    The new Security management is solid, and the CSO/CISO reports directly to the CEO and Board.


    Every business struggles to find balance, such as what corners to cut and how many top priorities can we have?
    The downsides are mostly typical for companies this size:
    - getting stuff done has been very personal- who knew who
    - this can lead to people being adversarial, with the resulting grudges over time
    - resulting in bad history between IT and Security groups
    - growth focus led to technical- and security- debt growing far too large over the past decade
    - so the company is now trying to juggle hundreds of transformational change projects at the same time
    - the company is a group of business units and geographies, think little kingdoms, who don't talk to each other
    - which creates overall prioritization problems if you are in a global resource group
    - Management under IT and some BU's is hit-and-miss down to the team level in some areas
    - hard to tell if merit is the primary driver for hiring decisions

    Advice to Management

    Continue to drive cultural change and lead the organization to see that security of our data and protecting our customers is the responsibility of every single group, not just a few people. Find a way to push more accountability and measure the right things.
