I worked at Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center as an intern (More than a year)
-Opportunities to author papers
-Extremely talented PIs
-Facilities are well maintained and stocked
-Training was excellent and thorough
-Not as much collaboration as I would have liked
-Lacks room for growth for new interns
-Tasks can be monotonous
Advice to Management
Provide better and more perks to interns besides the occasional name on a paper, or promises of letters of recommendation and work experience.
I applied through college or university. The process took 5+ months. I interviewed at Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center.
For most Post-doctoral Fellowship positions an in-person interview that includes a scientific presentation is required. In some cases the scientific talk all of the Gallo members are invited to attend, however, in other cases these talks may be smaller and include mostly the lab that the prospective post-doc is interested in joining.
After that the HR department handles the paperwork. They are very efficient and personable.
No negotiation. Post-docs are paid at the NIH standard rate.
