Mission: Improving Lives by Improving Sight
Inclusion & Diversity are more than buzzwords at Essilor of America. Our employees are living these concepts every day as part of our commitment to improving lives by improving sight.
“We are very proud to be one of the companies to have earned a position on the Water A List this year. This recognition is an affirmation of the hard work and dedication that our teams across the globe have put into placing sustainable water management at the heart of our day-to-day business. It is a great example of our commitment to responsibly deploy our mission of improving lives by improving sight so that we can continue contributing to sustainable development for many years to come,” said Hubert Sagnières, Essilor’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
In the U.S., we achieve this through the Essilor Vision Foundation, whose mission is to eliminate poor vision and its lifelong consequences, providing glasses to more than 310,000 people in need since 2008.

In our three Centers for Innovation and Technology based in Cretil, France; Dallas, Texas and Singapore, more than 550 researchers work in partnership to improve our products in terms of vision correction and protection while creating value in new segments.
We are intensely dedicated to research and development to provide innovative lens solutions that help the world see better. As pioneers, 40% of our revenue is generated from products less than four years old. Over the years we’ve revolutionized the treatment of common vision problems – notably, our development of the progressive lens.
Varilux® , the world’s leading progressive lens, is the most technologically advanced solution for presbyopia, an age-related condition that results in farsightedness. Varilux lenses enable wearers to see near, far and in-between without the traditional lines found in bifocals that tend to age a consumer.
Superior No-Glare Solutions
Crizal® lenses are specially designed using revolutionary technology and offer wearers the #1 recommended brand of no-glare lenses in the U.S. for the most comprehensive protection.
The First Adaptive Lens
We also pioneered the use of plastic and lightweight lenses and together with our joint venture partner, PPG Industries, created Transitions® adaptive lenses® - the first lightweight plastic photochromic lenses ever sold. They appear clear indoors and automatically darken outdoors in sunlight.

I have been working at Essilor full-time (More than 8 years)
Great people to work with, management helps develop your skills so that you can grow your career. There is a common goal of helping people see better which strengthens our employee relationships. It's very rewarding knowing that we make products that improves our customer's lives.
It's a big company that is sometimes slow and resistant to change but they are getting better. Communication between divisions could be better.
Advice to Management
Be open to new ideas.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Essilor (East Syracuse, NY).
Long but worth it. Thorough interview process. If you are serious about joining the Essilor group they do their proper vetting and it does take awhile to go through their candidates but absolutely worth it in the end.
