Essilor – Why Work For Us?

We're committed to creating access to good vision for people around the world.

In the U.S., we achieve this through the Essilor Vision Foundation, whose mission is to eliminate poor vision and its lifelong consequences, providing glasses to more than 500,000 people in need since 2007.

We also support the Vision Impact Institute, whose mission is to raise awareness about the importance of healthy vision. The Vision Impact Institute strives to give vision a voice by mobilizing a worldwide movement on visual impairment advocacy.

As passionate advocates of eye health, Essilor is proud to be a founding sponsor of Think About Your Eyes, a non-branded public awareness initiative focused on educating consumers about the importance of eye health and comprehensive eye exams.

Innovation is at the Heart of Everything We Do

In our three Centers for Innovation and Technology based in Cretil, France; Dallas, Texas and Singapore, more than 550 researchers work in partnership to improve our products in terms of vision correction and protection while creating value in new segments.

Pioneers in Optical Lenses

We are intensely dedicated to research and development to provide innovative lens solutions that help the world see better. As pioneers, 40% of our revenue is generated from products less than four years old. Over the years we’ve revolutionized the treatment of common vision problems – notably, our development of the progressive lens.

Progressive Advancements

Varilux® , the world’s leading progressive lens, is the most technologically advanced solution for presbyopia, an age-related condition that results in farsightedness. Varilux lenses enable wearers to see near, far and in-between without the traditional lines found in bifocals that tend to age a consumer.

Superior No-Glare Solutions

Crizal® lenses are specially designed using revolutionary technology and offer wearers the #1 recommended brand of no-glare lenses in the U.S. for the most comprehensive protection.

The First Adaptive Lens

We also pioneered the use of plastic and lightweight lenses and together with our joint venture partner, PPG Industries, created Transitions® adaptive lenses® - the first lightweight plastic photochromic lenses ever sold. They appear clear indoors and automatically darken outdoors in sunlight.
