Our Code of Conduct is the framework that helps us translate values into actions. Efforts to promote sound business practices, good working conditions and well-being all originate from the Code, but this is not where they end. To follow through on these efforts, we analyze risks, train employees, and evaluate our own plants and those of our suppliers.

In place since 2004, the Code of Conduct is inspired by SCA’s core values of respect, excellence and responsibility. Aligned with universal standards of business conduct as defined by the International Bill of Human Rights, ILO Core Conventions and OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the Code serves as a compass on individual and collective behaviour when employees are making business decisions or are faced with ethical dilemmas. The Code provides guidelines for SCA and its employees regarding business practices, health and safety, employee relations, human rights, nature and community.

Targets

  • We will maintain compliance with our Code of Conduct. All employees will receive regular training in the Code.
  • We evaluate all our supply streams from a total risk perspective. By 2020, we aim to source 100% of our procurement spend from suppliers committed to the criteria specified in our Global Supplier Standard.

Choosing the right partners

The more we grow at global level, the more important it becomes for the Group to review its global and local / all suppliers and choose responsible business partners. The aim is to identify risks and develop the social and environmental performance of suppliers.

Our objectives are to drive shared values and priorities throughout the supply chain in line with our Global Supplier Standard. During the year, a risk analysis was carried out with a focus on handling recovered fiber, which resulted in the introduction of a recognition program for suppliers in Mexico.

Our Whistleblower system enables our employees to speak up

Our employees are encouraged to report violation against our code of conduct to their line manager or to the compliance team. We have also implemented a dedicated reporting channel – a hot line – which is operated by a third party. The hot line has been implemented in several countries and will continue in 2017. The hot line enables employees to report 24/7 both via phone or website. The identity of the whistleblower is always protected, regardless of whether he/she chooses to be anonymous.

The company is creating awareness of the new channel through information campaigns, using media such as posters, articles on the intranet and advertisements in staff magazines.

    Simple, not very in detail. Discussed the role with 2 members of the team on the phone and had many behavioral questions that were not too hard to answer. They were very friendly and did not try to put pressure on me or anything of that nature
