Mission: To share God’s love in word and deed by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need, believing that "In Christ’s Love, Everyone Is Someone."
I have been working at Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society part-time (More than a year)
-calm, fast paced environment
-other aids work hard to support each other
-openly reflect and share their Christ-centered philosophy
-staffing levels vary, but have been consistently fully staffed or shifts
-fantastic pay with opportunities for bonuses
-won't fire poor employee until "there is a stack of 'concerned reports' filed
-don't care if you've worked a double or are sick or already have time off, they will ask you to work and expect you come in for open shifts
-move you around to different floors, halls without asking you
-bossy, intimating staff/nurses
Advice to Management
Be kind and understand what your employees need and want. CNAs are literally the backbone of the nursing facility and need to be treated with the utmost care and respect.
I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society in June 2017.
I was interviewed by the HR manager with the DON and a resident in the room. The HR manager had a packet of questions that were asked, such as am I reliable and dependable. Most of the questions were really easy, it only lasted 10 or 15 minutes. After the interview I was called about an hour later and offered a position.
