    Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Evanston Regional Hospital (Evanston, WY) in April 2010.

    Interview

After applying numerous times to other positions, I was finally granted an interview for this position, apparently the starting place for all non-professional positions at the hospital. I had listed my minimum acceptable salary as $12/hr. During the group interview, I was surprised to see that no one on the panel had even read my resume. About a month later, I was called and told they were putting together an offer for me. It took another week for the offer to arrive--$10.50/hr.

    Negotiation

I asked if that ($10.50/hr instead of my minimum $12/hr) was the best they could do and they said, "Yes". It was take it or leave it. I took it with a sense of dread. Additional problems with communicating how proactive employees must be to get paid for their holidays and prohibitively high costs to join their healthplan lead to my departure less than 2 months later.
