I have been working at Excella full-time (Less than a year)
I started with Excella about 5 months ago and so far it's been even better than advertised. My colleagues across all fields are some of the most intelligent and driven individuals I've had the opportunity to work with in my career. I've felt challenged and supported in my role since day one, and I don't see that slowing down any time soon.
I was hesitant about working for a consultancy at first because of the distributed nature of the company, but Excella does a great job of making the organization feel inclusive, which is tough since most people are on client sites. It also does a good job of visibility with contracts and metrics. It seems like everyone knows where they stand and how the business is doing overall. It also went a long way with me that I got a chance to interview with two of the partners during my process, and have interacted with the majority of others at various events, They all have a friendly and approachable manner and go out of their way to know who you are.
The benefits are solid, but thing that stands out most to me is the work-life balance, which is something I had questioned prior to coming on board. Since starting I've only worked a couple of late nights and that has primarily been at my choosing. The work is rewarding and it's nice to be around people who also feel passionately about their jobs. I've yet to come across anyone that has had a negative thing to say about the company.
None that I've run into so far!
Advice to Management
Keep focusing on making everyone feel like one big team. It goes a long way to making people feel valued...so good job!
I applied online. I interviewed at Excella (Washington, DC) in June 2017.
Had correspondence with a Sr. Corporate Recruiter via email and phone. Was very thoroughly in explaining the company, its culture, and the position. Great communication and very professional and knowledgable. Had to take an analytical assessment and was offered the opportunity to interview with the Hiring Manager. Had a great experience even if I wasn't offered the position. The company is looking to expand and I wish them the best in that endeavor. I see them developing internally and the hiring manager definitely will make sure that happens. From my experience, anyone having the opportunity to apply should definitely give it a shot. Great things are in the works for this company.
