It's just one more way that we're here to support you as you are becoming an insurance agent. Here's a small sampling of the resources you have as a Farm Bureau insurance agent:
A STRATEGIC FOCUS:
I have been working at Farm Bureau Financial Services full-time (More than a year)
1.) Great pay! This company has both the worst contract and the BEST contract all wrapped up into one! If you approach your career with only wanting to do the bare minimum and collect a paycheck, you simply won't make it with the contract. That is likely the case with most of the negative comments you'll find here in the reviews. However... *pause for effect* if you have a desire to earn your paycheck, serve you community, and build something worthwhile, you won't find a better contract or company to do that with! The company offers a very lucrative base subsidy (not a draw or loan that has to be paid back like competitors) that is addition to your sales commissions and renewals. And the subsidy lasts for 5 YEARS! By then, if you have actually worked like you have a rewarding career, your renewals will have built up so much that you will be set until you choose to retire. VERY realistic to make $80k+ in your first year, and $120k+ in year 2--if you actually care about your career.
2.) Amazing flexibility for making family and personally important things in life come first! You build your work schedule that fits your life. Try and find that in most careers!
3.) Great management and phenomenal support personnel! You have specialists for every aspect of the practice you build who are eager to help out when and where you need them. Their job depends on your success, so utilize them! Many who fail at this career simply don't know how to utilize the resources available to them--they just don't ask!
4.) Upper Management are strategic thinkers and problem solvers who are committed to making Agents jobs easier! They are reachable and transparent, which is amazing and gives piece of mind to fact that you have many advocates working on your behalf.
5.) Training, training, training! The company has a program, the Reserve Agent Program, that allows you initial training and the opportunity to dip your toe in the water of this career to ensure you like it, identify if you will be successful, and know that making a transition from your current job is the right choice. There are formal training courses throughout your first couple of years, and aside from working with the subject matter experts and specialists that are there to support you, you will learn from a highly talented team of field trainers and your managers every day.
6.) So much more! You just have to come and see!!!
Premiums have been high the past few years, but that is a cycle that is coming to an end! Every company has those ebbs and flows when it comes to pricing. (But price shouldn't be the aspect of your value proposition that people come to you for. They should buy from you because of the value you provide and the fact that the company is reliable--especially when it comes to paying claims and benefits!)
Advice to Management
Continue to hire competent agents who actually want to impact their community! Hiring those that don't and are lazy and are just in it for a paycheck don't help us build the company brand the way it deserves.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Farm Bureau Financial Services (Manhattan, KS) in December 2016.
Multi Stage with more information gained at each level. Includes testing and background check. Each stage was mutual screening opportunity. If either party didn't like where it was going we could terminate the process.
