I have been working at Fats full-time (More than 10 years)
The people I work with are great! The benefits are better than most in the industry, (decent healthcare, good 401-k, good vacation accrual). I feel the pay is pretty fair relative to the industry (although unsure whether corporate interference will cause it to be less reflective of merit). One of the main reasons to work here is the product. It truly is a cool product that helps our soldiers and law enforcement officers do their job, and the job remains interesting because the technology used continues to advance.
Project schedules are often too short relative to the amount of work, which puts pressure on engineering and manufacturing to deliver in unreasonable time frames. This leads to shortcuts, which inevitably means rework. More attention needs to be paid on the proposal/bid phase to ensure the estimates/schedule are attainable.
Advice to Management
Your people are the most important resource, so please help remove the roadblocks that might be keeping them from performing at their peak. And continue to recognize and support the high performers accordingly.
