I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fenway Group (Dallas, TX) in April 2012.
I submitted my resume online to a jobs site and was contacted by the Fenway Group a day or later. I talked on the phone with them and things seemed to fit well with the company's positive culture so we scheduled a time for me to come in for an interview. I went in and had a verbal interview with my recruiter and we talked over possible contract positions I could be placed in if I were to get hired. Then I took a solid screening exam to see if I was competent with the technology for the contracts I could choose from, and then got to meet the CEO to further see if I was a good fit for the company and meshed well with the employees. After passing this round with Fenway Group, we got my information submitted to an employer for placing me with them as a consultant and I had to go through another round of interviews. This time, there was 1 phone interview and one in-person interview. Throughout this whole process, Fenway Group had a representative who coached me through the interviews, prepared me, and even showed up at the interviews with me. I was well taken care of, and could see the dedication Fenway Group has for it's employees.
Fenway Group has a pretty strict understanding of what they can offer new employees and will let you know unequivocally where that line is. It is mostly based on where you get placed and what those other companies are willing to pay for a consultant.
