Tod Nielsen – President and CEO

Tod Nielsen is the President and CEO of FinancialForce. Formerly the Executive Vice President of Platform at Salesforce, Tod joined FinancialForce in January 2017, bringing his deep understanding of cloud platforms and extensive experience taking technology companies beyond the billion dollar revenue mark. Prior to his role at Salesforce, Tod redefined Heroku’s enterprise strategy as the Chief Executive Officer, significantly accelerating its growth. As the Co-President of Applications Platform Group and Chief Operating Officer at VMware, their market cap increased 9-fold to more than 50 billion dollars.

Tod has held additional high profile positions throughout his career. Prior to VMware, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Borland Corporation where he successfully rebuilt the organization and quadrupled the company’s revenue. Earlier, Tod served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Global Sales Support for Oracle and Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for BEA Systems. Prior to BEA, he spent 12 years growing Microsoft cloud and development offerings in various executive roles, including General Manager of Database and Developer Tools and Vice President of Microsoft's Platform group, where he was responsible for the development of .NET and Azure platforms.

Gordy Brooks - Chief Financial Officer

Gordy Brooks is the Chief Financial Officer at FinancialForce overseeing global finances and operations. Gordy joins FinancialForce with more than two decades of senior financial leadership experience at notable companies, serving as CFO of Blue Coat Systems and holding other senior finance positions at VMware and BEA Systems. Most recently as CFO of Citrix GetGo, he was responsible for orchestrating the spin-out of the GoTo SaaS product division and successful merger with LogMeIn (LOGM).

Daniel Brown - Chief Product Officer 

Daniel Brown is Chief Product Officer at FinancialForce and is responsible for guiding the company’s product strategy to deliver on its ambitious growth plans and expanding the size and scope of the product development organization.

Dan joins FinancialForce with over 25 years of business software and SaaS solutions experience, including 15 years at Microsoft Corporation. Dan’s most recent Microsoft role was General Manager of Corporate Strategy, where he led the company’s internal digital transformation strategy.

Tony Kender - Chief Revenue Officer 

Tony Kender is Chief Revenue Officer at FinancialForce, responsible for developing and managing strategies to accelerate and scale global revenue. With more than three decades of experience in applications software business, Tony is a recognized leader in creating and leading high performance go-to-market organizations, having been responsible for sales, global marketing and channels teams across all industries and selling motions. Before joining FinancialForce, Tony was with Oracle’s Human Capital Management (HCM) organization, holding roles as SVP & General Manager, North America HCM Sales, Global HCM Sales Strategy and SVP for HCM Global Strategic Customers. In these roles, Tony led the HCM Enterprise go-to-market sales strategy and execution, transforming the organization from on-premises offerings to the cloud SaaS offerings.


Mike Ni - Chief Marketing Officer

Michael Ni is Chief Marketing Officer at FinancialForce, focused on accelerating adoption of FinancialForce’s offerings to help organizations achieve digital transformation and customer-centric business models. Ni oversees all aspects of FinanicialForce’s global marketing efforts, including marketing strategies and analytics, customer insights, demand generation and brand growth.

Ni brings more than 25 years of experience building businesses and leading marketing and strategy for some of the world’s most successful enterprise technology companies spanning cloud services, consumer packaged goods, media, and eCommerce.

Prior to FinancialForce, Michael was CMO for RichRelevance. He drove global revenue growth and pivoted the company from an applications tool provider to become the world’s leading AI personalization platform, strengthening demand and install-base growth.

Prior to RichRelevance, Ni served as CMO of Avangate, a payments and subscription billing platform provider, where he helped triple the company’s customer base, grew revenue 6X in 4 years, and delivered 18 quarters of consecutive growth. Other previous roles include executive positions in strategy, marketing and product at Oracle, PeopleSoft, Intapp, and Amdocs.

Ni received an MBA from Harvard Business School, a master’s degree in engineering from Stanford University, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from MIT.


Melissa Fruge - Chief Legal Officer

As Chief Legal Officer, Melissa Fruge manages all global legal matters for FinancialForce. Fuge brings a proven track record of achieving strategic business goals while reducing risks, developing key policies and processes, and driving worldwide regulatory and legal compliance. She has also specialized in complex transactions, including IPOs, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.

Prior to joining FinancialForce, Melissa was Vice President of Legal for OYO Hotels Inc., the fastest growing hotel company in the world with over 22,000 employees. As General Counsel for Brandless, Inc, Melissa oversaw strategy and led all legal matters including compliance for the venture-backed e-commerce company. Previously, she was Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at Spredfast, Inc., overseeing the legal team and compliance, and working with SaaS subscriptions, partner agreements, cybersecurity and data protection, and intellectual property. As SVP and General Counsel at Homeaway, Melissa led all legal, regulatory and governance aspects of the company’s $250M IPO, negotiated 24 acquisitions worldwide and led the $3.9B sale of HomeAway to Expedia. She also served as VP, General Counsel and Secretary for Borland Software Corporation.

Melissa serves on numerous boards and is a regular speaker on corporate legal topics. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Southern California, and a Juris Doctorate, Certificate in International Law, from Santa Clara University School of Law. Melissa was admitted to the California and Texas bar associations.

Jonathan Schoonmaker - Chief People Officer

Jonathan Schoonmaker is the Senior Vice President of Employee Success at FinancialForce. A thirty-year veteran of human resources for some of Silicon Valley’s biggest enterprise brands, Schoonmaker has held senior executive positions with companies such as Sophos, Hewlett Packard (HP), VMware, Borland Group and Business Objects (SAP).

Jonathan has a proven track record in developing high-quality employee programs and internal HR processes that meet the needs of high-growth, diverse organizations. As Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Hewlett Packard’s Enterprise and Imaging Print and Solutions group, Jonathan supported more than 60,000 employees worldwide, reimaging company-wide best practices and talent management.



Debbie Aston - Founder & Senior Vice President, Strategic Customer Experience

Debbie Ashton is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Customer Experience and a Founder of FinancialForce. Debbie has been instrumental in the growth and ongoing success of the FinancialForce business. In her current role, Debbie’s mission is to work with our customers to understand their journey, ensure they maximize the value they derive from our solutions and enhance the overall customer experience.

As an ERP expert with over 25 years experience she has worked on the some of the industries leading ERP platforms. From the inception of FinancialForce Debbie has been in senior leadership positions including product strategy and development, global support and customer success.

    The people you work with here are all great. Everyone is willing to help out, and we are truly one team with one vision. I have never worked in an environment before quite like it, and it is amazing.

    As a consultant you need some room to fail and not feel like it will be the end. The culture they have put together here makes you feel safe to take risks and try new things. If it doesn't work out you can find comfort in the fact that you tried, and that management will have your back.


    Working hours are long sometimes, but that comes with any consulting job. We have to work around customers schedules to get billable hours. Just comes with the title.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you are doing. I am really loving the community we are building here internally.

    Marketing Coordinator Interview

    The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at FinancialForce (San Francisco, CA).


    This review is a bit late since I interviewed w FF last year but here it is;

    I got a call from their recruiter and had another call with one of their staff members after which I came in for an in person interview with two team directors and two team members. The in person interview went great and everyone had a great attitude - really enjoyed talking to them. I wrote everyone a thank you email and, all four interviewers replied saying it was great to meet me too and I should hear from them soon. The recruiter then said that I’m a great candidate for the final interview and that’s when it all went downhill... I got another call from he recruiter about 2.5 weeks latter my onsite and was asked to wait a week longer and keep her posted if I received any offers. Two weeks after the last call, I informed the recruiter that I accepted another offer since I didn’t hear from them - no response. It would have been nice not to be kept on a short leash.
