At FirstCare, we believe that all Texans and our communities should be healthy. To that end, we believe that health care should be accessible for all of our friends and neighbors.
FirstCare was founded in Amarillo in 1985, and we’re still locally owned. We put down roots and we’ve watched them grow. In fact, we’re owned by two Texas hospitals, Covenant Health and Hendrick Health System, and connected to the over 185,000 members in our communities. Today, our service area includes 143 counties, with local offices in Abilene, Amarillo and Lubbock.
Our deep commitment to our communities is fundamental to what we do. It helps us do a better job of connecting you with exceptional quality of care — from some of the best hospitals, doctors, and health services in our community.
Here at FirstCare Health Plans, we offer a friendly, approachable, and collaborative work environment with competitive salaries and excellent benefit offerings to our employees.
Born in Texas and headquartered in Austin, FirstCare is deeply committed to doing the right thing for the health of the Texas communities we serve. Every day is devoted to building stronger community relationships that help us bring people and quality health care together. When you join our team, you join a company that's leading the way in the health care industry.
We offer a comprehensive employee benefit package to our employees that is as exceptional as the health plans we offer our customers.

I worked at FirstCare Health Plans full-time
Recently raised the pto accrual rate to make it much more competitive.
They don't allow telecommuting, which is the industry standard.
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at FirstCare Health Plans in February 2017.
HR called less than 2 weeks after applying online. Phone screen. Manager phone interview a week later. Manager didn't seem prepared. Interview was more of a discussion of my work experience. Manager kept getting interrupted on their end with phone calls. What a complete waste of my time
