We believe in the power of perspectives and a team that reflects: the world in which we live, the stakeholders we serve and the clients with whom we partner. Our best thinking, creativity and results originate from the diverse talent and experiences across FleishmanHillard. Through our FH Perspectives initiatives, we are enriching our culture, supporting change within our industry and influencing the work we do for our clients.

Our success in developing women leaders has drawn recognition from the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE), who has named us to their Top Companies for Executive Women List for the last eight consecutive years. Today, women make up 68% of our global workforce and 51% of our corporate executives.

We are committed to leading our industry’s efforts to become more diverse and inclusive through our Perspectives initiatives, some of which are outlined below.

Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowships

Alfred Fleishman, one of our agency’s founders, was dedicated to promoting human rights and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds as they communicate with and understand one another better. In his honor, FleishmanHillard offers the Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship program.

The industry-leading program offers the opportunity for individuals to combine their communication talents with their passion for diversity and inclusion. The paid fellowships are six- to 12-months in length and offer benefits, professional development opportunities and a mentor program. Fellows contribute to client projects while rotating among account teams, gaining practical experience in the field of integrated communications from some of the industry's best counselors. Learn more about the opportunity, and hear what the Fellows think about the program.

China Masters Exchange Program

The China Masters Exchange program was created with the focus of helping Chinese companies establish their brands in the U.S. and other regions. The program provides practical training from all facets of the communications field, while also leveraging a candidates’ bicultural understanding of the U.S. and China markets.

China Masters participants have the opportunity to counsel Chinese companies on expanding abroad, while gaining firsthand insights and experience of the agency’s global operations. Upon successful completion of up to one year of employment in the U.S. or EMEA, participants can be transferred to FleishmanHillard office in China or in another region of our network. Individuals with an interest in research, analytics, PR or integrated communications are encouraged to apply. Learn more about the opportunity.

Diveristy and Inclusion Council

Our global council is comprised of colleagues at all levels who serve as our advisory board for everything related to FH Perspectives.

Diversity Champions

This team of activators across our network play an integral role in leading diversity and inclusion activities and programs in their local markets.

OPEN Pride

FleishmanHillard's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) affinity group – OPEN Pride – provides a supportive environment for LGBTQ employees and allies to network and develop professional skills. Members of the group are not only passionate about this network, but bring strong expertise and experience in helping clients cultivate meaningful relationships with those in the LGBTQ community.

Key Partnerships

We are engaged in strategic partnerships with organizations focused on advancing people of color in the communications industry, including The Emma Bowen Foundation, ColorComm, and MAIP. These partnerships complement FleishmanHillard’s own programs to network and help identify and recruit diverse talent.

Across the globe, FleishmanHillard’s internship program offers the opportunity for highly motivated young professionals to jump-start their career. A FleishmanHillard internship is many things — hands-on, immersive, challenging and rewarding. Most important, it’s a learning experience that can prepare you for a successful career. You will work with some of the world’s biggest brands and organizations on real campaigns, along some of the most renowned talents in the industry.

At FleishmanHillard, there’s a focus on growing our people throughout their career. We take a personal interest in the professional growth of our interns. You will have access to executives and top professionals who can offer advice on everything from the industry to your personal career path. You also will have the opportunity to participate in industry-leading professional development programs — hosted by our firm’s leaders — that focus on career management, business strategy and developing your intimate knowledge of our multiple industry sectors and practice groups.

Brilliant work and deep relationships are only possible with amazing, dedicated, motivated people, and we’re committed to supporting them at every level. Professional development programs are created and tailored at an office level, and the most effective programs are shared across the network to supplement corporate training initiatives.

We strive to nourish the lives and careers of our employees, and our network as a whole. Our programs offer flexibility and support for work/life balance, increase professional development opportunities and encourage collaboration around the globe.

We recognize that agency life is demanding and we are committed to enhancing the lives of our employees. Time off is important to allow employees to free their minds, relax, spend time with family and friends, and unplug. As part of our commitment to the well-being of our employees, we offer competitive vacation, holiday and family and wellness benefits.

Employees also receive top-line healthcare coverage, a comprehensive savings program, domestic partner benefits, a wellness program, pet friendly benefits, and more. International employees receive benefits competitively equal to those of U.S.-based employees.

We commemorated our 70th anniversary with a global initiative, uniting colleagues across our network to make a collective impact on a singular cause: social inclusion. The firm has committed to providing $2 million in pro bono services to organizations committed to education, job training, migrant workers and more. Offices identified local organizations, and put employees’ talents and time to use in a way that most effectively impacts their local communities. To date, we’ve supported more than 60 organizations worldwide, contributing more than 11,000 hours.

I have been working at FleishmanHillard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture, diversity of clients, dynamic teams, strong leadership, change-making -- inspirational general manager. There are many opportunities to shine and lead at the senior level. From the interns to the senior managers, everyone is expected to perform at their best, and it shows in the client relationships and continuing success.

    Cons

There are not many cons, this company is running on the proper course as one of the best in the world.

One con, meetings are a part of life, and if there are going to be a surplus of meetings, they need to be run efficiently. Going off topic, running over for an hour, and other annoyances involved in a meeting, do not make the meeting - but can make people dread meetings. The solution, be more aware of other people's time and try to stay on topic.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be transparent about the company and promote a culture of inclusion and creativity!

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at FleishmanHillard (Detroit, MI) in March 2015.

    Interview

Phone interview with recruiter in St. Louis, in person interview in Detroit. Met with executives first then immediate supervisor. They focus more on personality and whether or not someone will fit in, rather than skills and experience. It's a young group and the Detroit offices focuses solely on social media for Chevy.
